Job Description

Reports to: Project Manager

Job Summary:

An ELV (Extra Low Voltage) Datacenter Design Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing ELV systems within datacenter environments. This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective operation of systems such as BMS/DCIM, CCTV, access control system, fire alarm system, and other security and communication systems that operate at low voltage levels.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and Planning:

  • Develop detailed designs for ELV systems including DCIM/BMS, CCTV, Access Control, fire alarm, public address systems, and structured cabling.
  • Create schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for ELV systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

2. Project Management:

  • Manage ELV system projects from inception to completion.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate ELV designs with overall datacenter plans.
  • Prepare project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.

3. Installation and Commissioning:

  • Supervise the installation of ELV systems to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct system testing and commissioning to verify proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the installation and commissioning phases.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate project documentation including design documents, installation records, and test reports.
  • Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Update as-built drawings and system documentation as necessary.

5. Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance and operation manuals for ELV systems.
  • Conduct training sessions for end-users and maintenance personnel.

6. Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all ELV systems comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in ELV technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing and implementing ELV systems, preferably in datacenter environments.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating design drawings.
  • Strong understanding of ELV systems and components.
  • Knowledge about various communication ports (RS485, SNMP, Dry contact, BACnet).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Relevant certifications such as BICSI, RCDD, or other ELV-related credentials.
  • CTDC/ATD certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data center design standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942) is advantageous.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to data center sites for inspections, meetings, and audits.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and multiple projects.
  • Fixed-Term Contract: 2 Years (with potential for extension).
