- To implement its rehabilitation interventions in three of the severely affected districts of Nepal: Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot and Gorkha. WVIN through livelihood programming is proposing resilience promotion by providing CBDRM knowledge and developing LDRMPs to the vulnerable communities in Gorkha, Sindhupalchok and Nuwakot District. WVIN is planning to develop 17 LDRMPs with in the working areas of these three districts in FY-2017. This project aims to increase the resilience of children, communities as well as government officials from Education, Protection and Disaster Management departments, to be better prepared for and able to respond to natural hazards
Key Objectives of the Position:
- To develop and or revision of LDRMPs in Gorkha, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok districts as per the work plan (activities) of the district
- Conduct capacity building training on VCA and CBDRMP to the local stakeholders including active youths
- To facilitate identification and rehabilitation of community assets for DRR
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:
- Bachelor Degree in DRR/Development Studies/Natural Resource Management/Forestry/Engineering/Agriculture/ Social Science/Management or related subject from recognized University with at least 5 years work experience in related field. A Master's Degree in a related field is an added advantage
- Sound technical knowledge and experience in LDRMP preparation and training to communities on DRR particularly in VCA
- Understanding in mainstreaming Resilience Livelihood in DRR program
- Understanding the polies of Government of Nepal in National Disaster Response Framework
- Thorough understanding and experience about Nepal Government's strategies, policies, guidelines, school safety and Education
- Excellent oral and written English & Nepali, demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office
- Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility
- Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently
- Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solving skills
