Raleigh International Nepal (RIN) is a subsidiary of RIUK and has been working in Nepal since 2015. Our Country office is in Khumaltar, Lalitpur Nepal. We promote the role of young people in decision making and civil society, creating meaningful youth employment and enterprise, protecting vulnerable environments, and combating climate change, and ensuring Sustainable livelihood and the right to safe water and sanitation.

Location: Country Office, Lalitpur 
Salary: Based on Raleigh International Nepal Policy 
Reports ToFinance and Admin Manager

About the Role

The Driver is part of the country staff team who is responsible for representing and delivering Raleigh International’s interests in country. Under the direction/supervision of Finance and Admin Manager, the Driver is responsible for providing driving services to the Raleigh personnel or other guests, as requested. The Driver is responsible for driving effectively and safely and is responsible for vehicle security at all time while driving

Roles Responsibilities 

More specifically, the Driver will:

  • Verify the vehicle prior to starting it. This will entail using a checklist to be signed for each verification.
  • Drive office vehicle for transportation of authorized personnel safely and effectively, adopting, and honoring Gov/N driving and traffic rules and regulation as required.
  • Before any field trip, check thoroughly the vehicle to be used ensuring the oil level is normal, the vehicle is clean, verify the tyres, verify all the lights etc. as per the checklist. 
  • Maintain and up-date logbook for all travels, mileage, fuel consumption and refills.  
  • Deliver and collect official mail, messages, parcels and make the payment of various office utilities bills as requested; Execute the maintenance schedule as prescribed by the supervisor.
  • Responsible to ensure that all people in the vehicle are wearing a seatbelt at all times. 
  • Maintain office vehicle with regular check-ups and cleaning.
  • Comply with the organization manuals and other relevant requirement of RIN.
  • Perform any other related duties as and when required by the supervisor. 

Requirements 

Education

  • At least School Leaving Certificate 

Personal Specification

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience in I/NGOs or similar office environment 
  • Able to read and write in English as well as understand and communicate in English
  • Excellent knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and all relevant safety precautions 
  • Experience in driving in the remote and rough road in Nepal 

Other Information

Holiday Entitlement

As per the Raleigh International Nepal National Personnel Regulation, the holiday entitlement for full-time staff is 25 working days per year, plus 13 public holidays.

Office hours

Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. Staff may be required to work longer hours at events and during busy periods, including weekends, but time can be claimed back using the Time Off In Lieu policy.
