Institution for Suitable Actions for Prosperity (ISAP) is now implementing 5-year project named JNS Agriculture Promotion Project in Nepal (APPIN) funded by Japan Nepal Society (JNS), Tokyo. The project aims to increase the income of community people by encouraging the production and marketing of high-quality vegetables and fruits, thereby promoting business and industrialization of the agriculture sector. We are looking for the following position to successfully implement APPIN.

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Prior working experience of 3-5 years in the development and management of infrastructural-focused projects, especially WASH
  • Candidates with a civil engineering background and  prior experience in rural water supply projects Preference would be given to candidates with prior experience in electric water lifting projects
  • Knowledge of the development sector in Nepal and its regulation and stakeholders will be an asset
  • High level of computer literacy (primarily in Microsoft Office packages). Knowledge of AutoCAD would be preferred
  • Good written and spoken Nepali and English language 
  • Willing to stay at the project implemented sites and able to accommodate and adjust to difficult working conditions and tough field situations
  • Self-motivated and a good team player
  • Ability to take responsibility, meet deadlines and make progress with minimum supervision

Job Description

Duration: 6 months with possible extension up to 1 year

ISAP is currently looking for a suitable candidate for District WASH Coordinator for Project for Improving Water Access and Agriculture Income (PIWAAI) who would be stationed in the site office, Balefi of Sindhupalchok District.

S/he would also be responsible for the overall management of the WASH project activities including planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders. S/he should have a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with at least three years of working experience. Working experience in rural water supply would be given preference. S/he should be willing to travel extensively to the project implemented sites and able to accommodate and adjust to difficult working conditions and tough field situations.

  • Responsible for overall management of the WASH project activities including planning, implementation, monitoring and coordinating with relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure that WASH project activities, outcomes and deliverables are met on time at the assigned site
  • Assist Project Coordinator in preparing periodic report for donor and other stakeholders
  • Support Project Coordinator to manage administration, operational, procurement and other support functions
  • Co-ordinate in mitigating the identified opportunities and challenges in consultation with Project Coordinator and Project Manager
  • Explain all the details of project related drawings, design, survey and other technicalities to donor organization and other relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication and coordinate with relevant government authorities/ organizations and relevant stakeholders
  • Plan, execute and participate in workshops and meetings and represent ISAP at relevant conferences and programs
  • Support the Project Coordinator and M&E team in the evaluation and documentation of reports, case stories, success stories, photos and videos related to the project
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the project coordinator and project manager
