Work Purpose: To work closely with WV LPA Team of Kailali and partner NGO and provide overall leadership on project implementation in Kailali District. The Project Coordinator will foster and maintain relationship with relevant GoN agencies and other stakeholders at the District level. The position will also work closely with the relevant WV’s project and sectoral staff at the National level as well as the Consortium Partners and Secretarial to ensure strong linkages between district and national level coordination.This project aims to increase the resilience of children, communities as well as government officials from Education, Protection, and Disaster Management departments, to be better prepared for and able to respond to natural hazards.

Key Objectives of the Position:

  • Project management and performance management of the partner NGO
  • Monitor, supervise and support the partner NGO to implement project activities and facilitate target schools to develop and operationalize their School Based Disaster Risks Management (SBDRM) plans.
  • Establish an effective working relationship, adequate referral, and networking with relevant district stakeholders including district and local governments, LNGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, and other civil society groups for project implementation.
  • Ensure excellence and timeliness in project implementation in terms of impact, reporting, and documentation of lessons learned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Risk Management, Education, Social work, development studies, social science, or relevant discipline with at least 3-5 years working experience; preferably in an NGO context in working with community/grassroots people and organizations
  • Extensive experience and recognized expertise in models and methods of training, facilitation and capacity building, Project Management and organizational development for staffs and communities
  • Thorough understanding and experience about Nepal Government’s strategies, policies, guidelines, school safety and Education.
  • Experience in managing grants (ECHO/DIPECHO grant management experience is most preferred)
  • Good capacity-building skills, and experience in using logical frameworks and project monitoring
  • Excellent oral and written English & Nepali, demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including use of Microsoft Office
  • Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility
  • Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently
  • Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking with decision-making and problem-solving skills
