Job Location: The position is based at TFN House, Kathmandu with regular visits to working areas and communities as required.

Role Summary; The Director of Development and Partnership is responsible to cultivate long term champions for Teach For Nepal. S/he will drive the strategic partnerships with public and private stakeholders, in order to obtain both financial and non-financial support to enable the organization to achieve its mission and vision. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for building the funding base in order to provide sufficient financial resources for the organization towards achieving its vision, long term goals, and short term goals; 
  • Developing strategies, setting and committing to achieving ambitious revenue, attract more donors and retention benchmarks to achieve both immediate and long-term (next 3-5 years) goals; 
  • Build and execute strong strategic plans for the donor portfolio and thereby building strong donor relationships, increasing donor renewal, and upgrade rates, and expanding the donor base; 
  • Prioritize the right actions for the CEO to take in order to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects and prepares/support the CEO to execute; 
  • Conduct excellent donor interactions and communications (i.e., events, meetings, donor communication materials and communication channel to influence and cultivate donors), 
  • To research and identify new funding opportunities, develop and submit quality concept notes and proposals timely for both private and public sectors funding; 
  • Develop and maintain strong operations (i.e., stakeholder, prospect and donor tracking systems-information of National Nepalese corporations including Nepal’s based multinational companies with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) interest, data management, meeting prep and download systems);  
  • Ensure donors’ and partners’ requirements and timely submission of progress report; 
  • Work together with your direct reportees to formalize their development plan and hold them accountable to it; 
  • Actively seek out new opportunities to develop your team; 
  • Work closely with the admin and finance team to finalize formal agreements with prospective donors/partners & supporters and subsequent financial expenditure reports; 
  • Plan purposefully & execute effectively developing and executing strategy and operating plans to ensure that Teach for Nepal maximizes opportunities, meets its goals, and significantly grows to fund while building long term sustainability across government, corporate, foundations and individuals; 
  • Continually increase effectiveness and drive innovation in fundraising strategy, by continuous learning and improving on our current practices through research, self-discovery and reflection.

Qualification and experiences: 

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required, Masters Degree preferred; 
  • Five plus years of experience in directly relevant role; 
  • Proven success in fundraising in or with diverse organizations, philanthropists, or companies highly preferred, other relevant accomplishments in sales and marketing can be considered; 
  • Interpersonal, networking, and persuasion skills and presentation skills; 
  • Data analytics skills; ability to analyze numbers and tell the story behind them; 
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, working independently while also being a team player; 
  • Ability to manage and maintain high spirit/leading a team towards achieving ambitious goals; 
  • Ability to create a strategic plan for fundraising, building sustainable partnership and executing it; 
  • Advanced writing skills in English and Nepali languages including proposals, grants and reports. 

Competencies: 

  • Aligned with Teach for Nepal values, and demonstrate a strong belief and commitment to the movement; 
  • Understanding of issues in education and education inequality in Nepal; 
  • Professional demeanor, ability to work independently, with sound judgment and discretion in managing confidential donor and campaign information; 
  • Be outcome driven and have the ability to plan and prioritize one’s work to meet deadlines; 
  • Demonstration people-skills in building authentic relationships with internal and external collaborators.
