Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to support an innovative digital initiative in Nepal 

Howard Delafield International, LLP (HDI) is a behavioural insights consultancy, working around the globe driving innovation to positively impact lives. We have built a direct-to-consumer digital (DTC) platform for mobile games using discovery and play to empower young people to become active decision-makers in their own lives. We are looking for a high-energy and creative Digital Marketing & Communications Manager to support our team in the adaptation and expansion of the Game of Choice, Not Chance™ (GOC) in Nepal. We are part of a USAID award for an Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) project led by CARE in collaboration with National Health Education, Information and Communication Center (NHEICC). HDI will create a youth-centric portal with multiple channels to reach adolescents to address agency and self-efficacy for adoption of healthy behaviours and to facilitate adolescents’ reproductive empowerment. 

We are looking for an experienced Digital Marketing Communication Manager, who will be responsible for managing all the branding, marketing, and communications for the Nepal game for girls. The successful candidate must be able to coordinate and oversee all campaign collaterals, while working closely with the Team Lead and across all other internal and external verticals. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple duties, including across multiple time zones. The Digital Marketing & Communications Manager we are looking for is an innovative storyteller, with a marketing mindset who has a sharp eye for detail.

This is a task-based and results-oriented position requiring self-direction and efficient time-management. The person will operate across several time zones (Nepal, India, US-including East Coast and West Coast time zones). The ideal individual we be willing to be flexible in terms of working hours. This position will report the HDI Country Director/Team Lead and collaborate/liaise with the regionally based HDI Marketing Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Desk review of media access, use, habits, and preferences of the target audience (unmarried adolescent girls 15-19), as well as digital interventions in ARH in Nepal.
  • Desk review of literature on ARH in Nepal, ARH best practices and mobile, gaming, and digital use.
  • Create a brand strategy, marketing, and communication plan, and execute it in collaboration with the local communications agency and the National Health Education, Information and Communication Center (NHEICC).
  • Develop a communication/marketing brief for the local agency to promote and market the digital product.
  • Review and negotiate scopes of work and workplans.
  • Provide guidance to the marketing team for creation of social/on-line and traditional media content and media planning.
  • Oversee coordination and management of activities and deliverables of the marketing agency. Ensure appropriate reviews, approvals, and revisions.
  • Facilitate collaboration within the consortium to ensure alignment of other communication and marketing functions.
  • Work with additional cross-functional teams, working groups, and technical experts to ensure alignment with DTC approaches and other consortium Social Behaviour Change Communication initiatives.
  • Keep abreast with developments in the ARH, youth, and gaming space, and share insights and information with the HDI Nepal Team.
  • Create a brand guide for use by partners.
  • Create a crisis communication plan. 

Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum degree: Bachelor’s degree in Mass/Comm/Business or related field.
  • 10+ years experience developing and executing effective marketing campaigns in Nepal with a commercial advertising agency.
  • Experience working with youth/adolescents and on gender and ARH issues is desirable, but not necessary.
  • A high level of fluency in English and Nepali, excellent English writing skills, and ability to produce documents and presentations.

Position: Full time employee position, however, can be negotiated as a contractor/ consultancy position. This assignment will begin with a one-year commitment with the potential to expand up to 5 years.

Compensation: Based on salary history.

Languages: Excellent English and Nepali writing and speaking skills, Hindi is a plus.
