Job Description

The Deputy General Manager reports directly to the General Manager (GM) and is responsible for providing support in managing day-to-day operations across multiple cost centers and locations. Directly coordinate activities and operations to maximize AMA’s potential, relating to guests, employees, and US mission personnel.  He or she is responsible for all aspects of operations and provides support to the General Manager. Ensuring compliance with local regulations, and that policies and procedures are adhered to.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist the GM with day-to-day operations

  • Assign duties to HOD’s and observe performance to ensure the adherence of AMA policies and operating procedures
  • In coordination with the GM, develop strategies for growth and operating procedures
  • Perform the duties of General Manager in his/her absence

Financial Oversight

  • Ensures that the AMA operates in a fiscally responsible manner and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures and allocable US and local laws
  • Monitors on-going fiscal performance of the AMA, making recommendations and adjustments as necessary to ensure the organization’s financial health
  • Assist the GM in developing new or current cost centers to maximize profitability, performance, and member satisfaction
  • Recommend to the GM ways to improve the operation and maintenance of the facilities

General Administration

  • Monitor guest feedback and assist in timely resolution of guest complaints
  • Assist the GM in performing HOD meetings or conduct the meeting in absence of the GM
  • Assist GM in key property issues including capital projects and refurbishment
  • Assist in wage scale surveys
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly property inspections
  • Ensure property, grounds, and work areas are maintained to standard
  • Oversee Communications and events coordination to ensure professional delivery and implementation
  • Collaborate with the GM and HOD’s

Staff management

  • Assist GM in managing the performance evaluation cycle including up to date Job Descriptions, Personal Objectives and Goals setting and performance appraisals
  • Responsible for team morale, promote AMA values and ensure staff are aware of and adhere to all AMA polices including excellent financial compliance
  • Oversight of central attendance and leave records
  • Nurturing positive working relationships with staff
  • Keep abreast of changes in local labor law and update the AMA Employee Handbook accordingly
  • Work with HOD’s to assess the operational efficiency of cost centers are achieved
