Deafblind Educator

Society of the Deafblind Parents (SDBP) is organization of parents of children with Deafblindness. SDBP is committed to empower the parents work to provide quality service on daily living skills, communication and education of children with deafblindness. Deafblind is a term that is used when a person has a combination of both vision and hearing impairment. Dual sensory loss or dual sensory impairment are other terms that are used to describe deafblindness.

In coordination with National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN), SDBP is implementing the project entitled "Healthy life of people with deafblindness in Nepal" in Kathmandu and currently looking for qualified personal for the following position:

Job Specification

Education Level : Higher Secondary (+2/A Levels/Ib)
Experience Required : More than or equal to 1 year
Other Specification
  • At least Intermediate with 1 year of work experience in related field 
  • Good understanding of deafblindness and Multi-sensory impairment. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with families
  • Excel skills and MS package will be required
  • Ability to follow the Individual education plan (IEP)
  • Prior experience working in with organisation of persons with Disabilities will be an advantage and experience working with children with deafblindness will be given special preference
  • Preference would be given to candidates with ability to communicate in Nepali Sign language and other form of communication like braille, tactile communication etc

Job Description

  • Deafblind educators will work in close coordination with the project Coordinator on delivering the services to children and adults with deafblindness
  • Work with parents to develop Individual Education Plan 
  • Provide home based and center based support on developing skills of children and adults with deafblindness on mobility, daily living skills, communication, education and other aspects as required
  • Ensure the necessary documents and information are provided on time to project coordinator for reporting and documentation
