Supervisor/Principal Evaluator: Accountability and Governance  Coordinator
Location: Kathmandu (60 % in field)
Period:  March to December 2023
Grade: C8
Project: Together for Disaster Preparedness and Early Action in Landslide Affected Hill Area of Nepal-Pratibaddha-II
Duration: 1 Year

Purpose of the Position 

Community Self-Reliance Centre (CSRC) is facilitating land and agrarian rights campaign since its establishment in 1993. Also engaged on disaster governance through policy advocacy, guideline formulation and implementation of numerous DRR projects after 2015. 

CSRC is implementing the ECHO funded "Together for Disaster Preparedness and Early Action in Landslide Affected Hill Area of Nepal" project to strengthen community resilience to landslides and to support early warning and response systems in consortium with People In Need (PIN), Save the Children (SCI) and Scott Wilson Nepal.

The Data Documentation Officer is primarily responsible for data management, monitoring/data verification, write success stories and assist in periodic update & report writing at community level and district level. Under the overall guidance from program Manager and close coordination with program colleagues, s/he should work closely with project coordinator and Accountability and Governance Coordinator (AGC) of CSRC, PRATIBIADDHA-II consortium team at district as well as MEAL team at the Centre.

We are looking for a Data Management and Documentation Officer to join our team and support the project's data management and documentation efforts.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement data management systems for the project, ensuring data is organized, accurate, and up-to-date.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret project data to support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting on project progress, including regular reporting to donors and other stakeholders,
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including project plans, reports, and other relevant documents,
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure that data is collected in a timely and accurate manner,
  • Provide technical support to project staff on data management and documentation processes
  • Support the development and implementation of capacity building activities for project staff and community members on data management and documentation,
  • Conduct field visits to collect data and provide support to project activities, as needed
  • Collect the major progress from the field and develop the case, success, failure story from the project intervention area, 
  • Develop the data collection system through the digital platform by using the free data collection tools i.e KoBO.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the organization.

Reporting and Monitoring: 

  • Make regular field visit to collect and data verification and support to follow MEAL system at field.  
  • Conduct household visit to interact with beneficiaries on need basis using prescribed integrated checklist.
  • Collect and compile routine data and provide feedback to project colleagues.
  • Participate in intensive monitoring visit along with consortium team.
  • Collection, compilation and production of case studies and success stories.
  • Support District/Field coordinator on preparing activities and event report
  • Assist and support Project Coordinator to prepare the monthly, quarterly and annual report and share to respective line manager for its finalization.
  • Disseminate program related information in different forum and through media in consultation with project coordinator, accountability and governance coordinator.
  • Regular collection and review of progress report submitted by field colleagues.
  • Collect and compile reports including regular periodic report, tools and event completion report from field colleagues in appropriate filing system.
  • Produce hard copy documents, progress report, data, case studies and other documents in consultation with Project Coordinator and Accountability and Governance Coordinator 
  • Prepare case studies and success stories focusing the highlights of achievements. 

Maintain cross cutting issues 

  • Ensure the cross-cutting issues GESI, Good Governance, RBA, Anti-corruption, conflict transformation and others in a project implementation and personal life.
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by an organization and line manager as relevant with subjective matters.
  • As a member of CSRC, contribute to overall organizational goals, objectives, and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualification and Experiences 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, computer science, or information management, social studies, Rural Development or related subject with more than 3 years of experience in social sector. Preference will be given to Master Degree in social science or Rural development with experience.
  • Experienced on digital data management system i.e using KoBo tool kit, Access, excel etc. 
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office,
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali
  • Experience working in a multicultural team and with communities in rural areas
  • Willingness to travel to project sites in remote areas and to work under challenging conditions
  • Familiarity with disaster risk reduction and early warning systems is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge on reporting, presentation and documentation process.
