Kindernothilfe (German for "Supporting children in need") was founded in Germany in 1959 to support vulnerable and marginalized children and youth to develop their full potentials. We want to be a trusted partner to children and youth living in poverty. Our work is anchored in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. We are committed to working towards a future free of destitution, violence or abuse. Kindernothilfe's participatory approach gives children and youth a voice. Their ideas and input on how to overcome deprivation and poverty are crucially important to us. Empowering children to lead independent, self-fulfilled lives is what Kindernothilfe is about.
In Nepal, we work hand-in-hand with local partners to combat the most severe child rights violations and their causes. We tackle complex problems with comprehensive community development projects and with self-help programs. We empower children and their families socially, economically and to develop leadership skills to allow them to leverage their own huge potential. The success of our work has proven that all people, even the poorest and supposedly weakest members of society, have great potential. All programs are tailored to local conditions.
