It is under the founding principle that women survivors of human trafficking have immense potential to combat the exploitation of Nepalese women and girls and to create social change. SASANE’s mission is to end the physical and sexual exploitation of young girls in Nepal.

Job Description: 

The COUNSELOR will be responsible specially to look after the below mentioned project. In relation, the COUNSELOR is requested to provide needful insights and support to the organization as and when needed and requested by the Authority.

School for justice – funded by free the girls (Netherlands)

The School for Justice (SFJ) programme is a programme for SEC survivors who fell victim to SEC as a child in which they get a chance to become change agents and as such assist in combatting/preventing SEC and raising awareness on SEC.

Promoting Change agents is the core component of the SFJ program. Participants in the School for Justice are SEC survivors determined to change the world for the better. They want to eliminate SEC through their own empowerment and active involvement in the fight against SEC. 

The Counselor will be supporting in the overall motivational process ensuring mental wellness.

Responsibilities: 

1. Perform psychosocial counseling to the beneficiaries of ‘School for Justice’ program being flexible with their timing.

  • Once a week with each beneficiary in the first month.
  • Once a month with each beneficiary from second month onward

2. Develop monthly report based on the counseling session with individual details

  • About the status, progress and steps to be taken for each beneficiary considering their interest in supporting the program.
  • Submit a detail and summary report to the Project Manager with the feedback on a monthly basis.

3. Organize individual/group sessions, webinars, and workshops on intensive and comprehensive topics that will help the participants build confidence and knowledge, motivate to study well as well as to participate in a range of societal activities organized by the project

4. Travel to field office as per requirement

  • Have to travel to the Pokhara Office for counseling per requirement.

5. Smooth coordination with hostel warden and program staff

  • Support to maintain cordial relationship/environment in SASANE house/hostel/office.
  • Should coordinate with hostel warden and program coordinator before each counselling session for time management. Time should not hamper college timing and beneficiaries’ routine.

6. Attend programs/events/workshops and in the activities of the project

Desirable Skills:

  • Computer skills: Applicants must have a thorough understanding of Office packages and logistics software necessary ( if applicable) to conduct research and complete routine/moderately complex tasks
  • Analytical skills: Applicant must be able to assess and work on moderately complex information from the beneficiaries and draw logical conclusions if required
  • Interpersonal skills: Applicant must establish and preserve excellent relationship with the beneficiaries by gaining their trust and respect, as well as nurture an effective relationship with them
  • Communication skills: Applicants must have excellent communicate skills. It is also vital for attending to complex questions in a clear and concise manner, and reporting the status of assigned tasks
  • Organizational skills: Applicant must be able to plan, prioritize, and manage their own activities and office workflow even when working under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility: Applicant must be willing and able to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities that may require overtime or extended hours.
