  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB), Engineering, or Business Administration; a Master’s or additional certification in Construction Law, Project Management, or FIDIC is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and management, preferably in large hydropower projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial law, procurement policies and construction contract models (e.g., FIDIC).
  • Proven experience with construction contracts, vendor agreements, and financing agreements is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Nepali and English languages.
  • Proficient in MS Office, contract management tools, and project tracking systems.

Job Description

Contract Drafting and Review:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including FIDIC, EPC, consultancy, supply, and financing agreements.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and incorporate them into contract terms.
  • Ensure that contracts comply with all applicable laws and regulations, applicable standards, and the company’s internal policies.
Contract Management:

  • Manage the entire contract lifecycle, from initiation to termination.
  • Maintain a centralized contract database and ensure version control and proper record-keeping.
  • Monitor key contract milestones, deliverables, obligations and performance indicators.
  • Track variations, claims, extensions of time (EOT), and change orders in collaboration with project teams.
Negotiation and Dispute Resolution:

  • Lead contract negotiations with vendors, contractors, subcontractors, lenders   and other parties.
  • Support resolution of disputes, claims, and contract breaches, including documentation for dispute boards or arbitration if necessary.
Policy Development:

  • Develop and implement contract management policies and procedures.
Legal Compliance:

  • Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations and applicable standards
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in laws and regulations that may affect the company's contracts.
Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties on contract-related matters.
  • Provide timely updates to project leadership on contract status, risks, and performance.
Other Duties:

  • Provide training to employees on contract management best practices.
  • Prepare reports on contract performance and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
