To conduct study on the comprehensive nature of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation in targeted areas in Nepal and responses of duty bearers 

Partners: Anti-Slavery International, Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH) and Samrakshak Samuha Nepal (SASANE)

Anti-Slavery International, CWISH and SASANE is seeking a consultant based in Nepal to conduct a study on the comprehensive nature of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and young people in Kathmandu and targeted districts in Nepal. Funded by Comic relief, this project (2018-2020) is contributing to preventing and addressing human trafficking of children and young people into sexual exploitation in Nepal. 

Job Duration: It is anticipated that the study will take 50 days over a 6-month period with an expected start date of February 2019.

Key qualifications 

(A) Functional Skills and Knowledge:

  • High level knowledge and experience of research
  • Strong knowledge and understanding on human trafficking, child rights and protection, gender and social inclusion
  • Skill in literature review, data analysis and technical writing
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team

(B) Education 

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in Social Science or in a relevant discipline

(C) Experience 

  • At least 5 years relevant and recent work experience in social science research which led to publications
  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and young people to the highest ethical standards
  • Experience working in the field of human trafficking and conducting some research
  • Experience working among the community level as well as the local level stakeholder

(D) Languages: 

  •  Excellent spoken and written English and Nepali 

Budget and Payment

  • Budget is up to Nrs. 10 lakhs (excluding administration, travel and other costs). This budget is negotiable
