Background of the Assignment
The quality of maternal health care can be assessed by two distinct but related components: (i) the quality of clinical care provided and (ii) the quality of care (QoC) experienced. The care experienced by patient/client is not just important for quality of care but also linked to the continuum of care. SSBH is conducting a pilot intervention in 16 health facilities in Karnali and Lumbini Provinces, to promote integration of patient perspectives and experiences of care into delivery of quality health services. As a part of the intervention, the Activity plans to conduct sessions for health service providers and Health Facility Operation and Management Committee members in each facility, to orient them to the principles and practices of taking the patients’ experience of care into consideration while delivering services and seek their commitment for the same. These events will also include skill-building sessions on interpersonal communications, cultural sensitivity, positive provider-patient interactions, and the like.
Scope of the Assignment
The Consultant will work closely with the SSBH team to assist with design and finalization of the training curriculum (sessions, methods, and materials) and facilitate the sessions in eight selected health facilities. All sessions should be delivered in highly interactive manner, allowing participants to practise new skills where relevant, draw on their own experiences using relevant examples from the local context and focus on practical tips to enable participants to develop ideas into plans for improving patient experience of care.
