Nepal Water & Energy Development Company Pvt. Ltd. (NWEDC) is an energy utility company specialized in hydropower development and was established with an intention of encouraging foreign investment to work in the area of hydropower in Nepal.

NWEDC is a Special Purpose Vehicle through which KOEN, KIND, IFC (World Bank Group) and a local partner have been developing Upper Trishuli-1 (UT-1) Hydroelectric Project.

The 216 MW UT-1 Hydroelectric Project located in Rasuwa District of Nepal will annually generate 1456 GWh  of hydroelectricity and supply to the National Grid of Nepal.

Job Description

Major Works:

  • Be responsible for all legal matters related to the Company
  • Review terms & conditions and legal matters of financing documents including loan agreements and security documents, to be executed with lenders from the local statutory and regulatory perspective
  • Draft documents for filing of financing documents to the relevant authorities of the Government of Nepal for approvals and consents in coordination with Company Legal Counsel
  • Lead efforts to obtain approvals on the financing, transaction and FDI related documents from the relevant authorities of the Government of Nepal;
  • Coordinate with legal counsels, company counsels, lenders counsels and consulting firms in the process as above, wherever applicable;
  • Prepare and confirm all the letters and application to Government authorities regarding financing of equity and debt; and
  • Any other matters ancillary and incidental thereto.

Requirements:

  • Master in Law completed with experience in corporate Legal activities of Finance for a minimum of 5 years after graduation.
  • Excellent command in Nepali and English Language
  • Excellent Microsoft skills in Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Word.

Salary:

  • Negotiable based on experience and qualification.
