Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

The Communications and Strategy Officer (hereafter referred to as Officer) will be a full-time employee of Samaanta Foundation, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. This is initially a two-year fixed position, with a probation period of three months, and regular reviews thereafter.

The key roles and responsibilities of the Officer are listed below, but these are meant to be illustrative rather than exhaustive. The organisation retains the right to add or change these roles and responsibilities.

Communication:

  • Develop a communication strategy based on a sound understanding of the fellowship program
  • Manage public relations for the organisation
  • Document all key activities and communicate effectively, and in a timely fashion, with all key stakeholders
  • Regularly update and maintain the organisation’s website, social media accounts, and quarterly newsletter
  • Raise the profile of the organisation at the local, national, and international levels

Strategy and Development:

  • Develop a fund-raising strategy, at local, national, and international levels
  • Develop robust internal systems to track and report all activities, events, and finances of the organisation
  • Identify donors/grant making bodies and prepare funding proposals for local, national, and international donors
  • Develop and maintain donor and supporter databases and mailing lists
  • Engage with fellowship activities in coordination with the Program Manager
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential donors at local and national level
  • Organize fund-raising events and programs

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 3 years of experience in communication and fund-raising, preferably in the development sector
  • Experience of writing grant proposals and engaging with national and international stakeholders
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in Nepali and English
  • Knowledge of word press
  • Experience in the education sector highly desirable

Salary: Competitive salary negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
