Women for Human Rights, single women group (WHR) registered in1995 as a non-governmental organization working for the socio-cultural, economic and political rights of widows, WHR now has organized over 100,000 widows in 2550 wards of municipalities and rural municipalities of 77 districts of the country. WHR obtained UN consultative status of ECOSOC in 2011 and is also secretariat of South Asian Network on Widows Empowerment in Development (SANWED).

At policy level WHR has brought issues of single women (widows) as one of the the national issue for the first time in Nepal and lobbied and advocated for changing various discriminatory laws and policies against widows. 

The organization is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions at the Central Office, Kathmandu with frequent visits to districts.

Role Overview:

  • Write and distribute content to promote an organization's brand, activities or services
  • Act as a liaison between the organization, the public, and the media
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services
  • Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics
  • Manage official social media platforms

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' relevant experience in a communications role
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (In Design/Photoshop)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong command of both Nepali and English language
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
  • Proven knowledge/understanding/experience of the issues of single women, elderly, disable and/or child issues will be valued
