Job Description

Position Summary

Communication Officer role will work the team to leverage programs success and operations of PIN. 

They will work closely to reflect the output of the project through various means as photos, stories, blogs, documentary. The communication officer needs to have frequent field visit to be familiar with the reality on ground and capture the outputs of the project. Accordingly, this position will work on capacity building and training of teams to enhance the output and impact of the project. This position will work closely with team to support the provision of excellent information and communications  of  PIN’s  project for both internal and external audiences. They will work with team in main office and field to prepare for communications needs for PIN and help raise visibility through updated communications tools and creating plans to overcome gaps in communication capacity. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES: 

Communication and Information:

  • Ensure internal and external communication are in line with the vision, mission and branding of PIN.
  • Planning and implementing communication strategies with development of  communication strategies for PIN. 
  • Develop and disseminate newsletters, annual reports, factsheets, booklets, manuals, etc. to donors, partners, government organizations, and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Identify and prepare engaging content  as success stories, case studies , photos, videos, documentary,  from the project areas as per PIN standards and guidelines. 
  • Collect and maintain the photo  database from all project areas reflecting all  activity of the project. 
  • Work with project teams to create and regularly update project area profiles.
  • Identify new innovative ways to communicate with advocacy, operations and team  to identify information gaps on the ground.
  • Coordinate and organize national and international campaigns, events, workshops, etc.

Social Media and Website :

  • Respond to messages on social media channels and engage in conversations with our followers and supporters.
  • Develop communication materials, such as social media graphics, infographics, presentations, banners, brochures, etc. as per the requirements.
  • Ensure visibility and branding in all project areas as per PIN branding guidelines. 
  • Ensure compliance with branding requirements for donors and partner organizations.
  • Prepare website content and maintenance based on the project requirements 
  • Ensure timely production of quality communication products such as articles, feature stories, photographs, and videos, documentary, blogs  to the support implementation of the project’s communication strategy.
  • Oversee PIN’s  website,  social media accounts to ensure positive engagement and visibility of the project and donors 

Capacity building and training: 

  • Provide support and training to main office staffs, field staff   to enhance the photography skills to reflect activities of project. 
  • Train the team in preparing branding and visibility materials. 

Reporting and Documentation: 

  • Provide quality control on all reports, marketing materials, and other documents generated by the project development team 
  • Collect content for weekly, monthly, and quarterly, annual status reports and report accordingly. 
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual report of the communication department as per the requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • A master’s Degree from a recognized university in Mass communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Social Science, or other related field with a minimum of three years of working experience in a similar context. 
  • Photography (taking and editing) and graphic design skills. Experience with design and audio-visual software is an advantage;
  • Experience of delivering training, presentations and other capacity building activities to varied audiences
  • Excellent in both verbal and written communication in English and Nepali Languages.
  • Experience in developing content for website and social media posts.
  • Able to use graphic designing and video editing software will be an added advantage.
  • Creative and innovative in developing content. 
  • Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Good leadership qualities and communication skills.
  • Experience in event management and planning. 
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, G Suite, ArcGIS, Esri products, Kobo Toolbox, and Salesforce preferred click ups, content management systems, and social media tools. 
  • Demonstrated and proven record to work in a multidisciplinary team under changeable and complex circumstances and evolving priorities.
