Job Summary

The Communication Officer (CO) will develop and implement the communication and Knowledge Management (KM) of MPHD project. The objective of this position is to promote and enhance the external image of project with donors, government, and the public. S/He will be responsible for developing the communication work plan for a project monthly with clear deliverables and ensuring that all activities are implemented in a timely manner. S/he will also be responsible for day-to-day communication activities including but not limited to social media activities, helping with reports, drafting success stories, newsletters, and other communication materials. S/he will work closely with field teams, other departments, and consortium partners to support the communication, marking and branding needs. S/he will be well versed with the donor Marking and Branding policy and ensure that these are followed diligently for all communication materials produced by project.

Key Responsibilities /Activities 

 

Create, implement, and monitor the Communication Strategy for organization and communication Plan

  • Take lead role to create an overall corporate / programmatic communication strategy and a yearly communication work plan 
  • Collaborate with Sr. communication Officer and other project team to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience 
  • Work closely with all concerned departments, and staff to own, implement and monitor the communication strategy and communication plan. 
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services 
  • Compile, edit and finalize reports (Quarterly, Annually, and other), presentations, Project Factsheet, Project success stories etc. for timely and effective communications with stakeholders 

Manage day to day Communication activities

  • Liaise closely with the graphic designer to prepare all the communication materials needed for the different products including case studies, success stories, website content, e-newsletters etc.  Generate new content for the organization website and organization Facebook page and implement strategies to attract new visitors to the website. Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics
  • Use other social media appropriately to enhance organization’s visibility as an organization with consent from Managing Director
  • Effectively coordinate with other departments to assist them in preparing contents, presentation, and summary, manage and timely update per client feedback regarding the outlook of application.

Understand the donors / client

  • Establish a rapport with donors and understand their needs from a communication perspective
  • Ensure that organization’s communication strategy and communication plan are in line with the donor’s expectation & policies and observe all required protocols for communication
  • Programs & Events Take the lead in ensuring that any external programs and events are professionally organized and communicate a positive image of organization in line with the communication strategies

Ensure that branding guidelines are followed

  • Adhere branding requirements for donors and organization and make sure all branding guidelines are strictly followed 
  • Support other departments with branding and training requirements

Reports

  • Collaborate with program team for the donor reporting requirements including quarterly annual and other communication materials as per specific donor.  Provide guidance to all staff contributing to the reports on formatting and style as per project requirement.
  • Ensure that all reports and deliverables are properly formatted, edited, and meets the required quality standards of specific project prior to submission 
  • Provide content inputs as appropriate and take a lead in writing, revising /final editing and polishing the technical content for reports

  Additional Responsibilities

  • Any other responsibility as assigned by the department heads and the Managing Director as needed.

Required skills/competencies/others 

  1. Excellent in both verbal and written communication in English and Nepali Languages 
  2. Excellent Interpersonal & Presentation skills 
  3. Able to design communication material by using Graphic Design Software will be an added advantage.
  4. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: digital and print media, social media and collaboration platforms, public relations, marketing, graphic design, and/or stakeholder engagement. Event planning experience is preferrable
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms. 
  6. Good time management and organizational skills 

Qualification and Experience 

  • Minimum Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in mass media, media study, journalism and mass communication, or relevant field 
  • Preferred / Additional  Qualification Experience in designing publication materials, knowledge products, and use of infographics
  • Minimum Experience 2 years’ experience 
  • Preferred / Additional  Experience Experience of working with USAID in communication and knowledge management
