Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and rollout PFMSP communication and media outreach strategy
  • Maintain the Project’s internal and external communication needs
  • Work with team members of key project components to develop the project’s social media platforms with relevant and timely information
  • Work with project management and team members of key project components to draft monthly, quarterly, and annual plans and reports, as well as other documents, required for submission to USAID
  • Support the overall project as well as key components in creating communication materials to introduce the project’s key activities and recent updates
  • Draft press releases; success stories and develop blogs by working closely with the team leaders of the three components above
  • Take the lead in planning and organizing periodic events with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the National Reconstruction Authority, and other relevant stakeholders, to engage in planning physical events inside and outside the valley to engage beneficiaries and national and local level media
  • Take lead in communicating the importance of Public Financial Management (PFM) in promoting transparency and accountability in the Budget Cycle. Collect articles / materials regarding PFM to publish on local and regional media through national dailies, magazines, television, radio, online platforms, etc. 
  • Ensure that all PFMSP publications, releases and other documents are in line with USAID and Louis Berger branding policies
  • Take lead in creating physical and virtual archive of key documents and media files for reference and usage by the programme and
  • Maintain and develop good relations with the local media, and be resourceful in mobilizing the press corps for important events

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s level degree in Mass Communications or any equivalent degree; a post graduate degree is preferable 
  • At least 3 years of work experience in Development Communication or 5 years of experience with national level (English) media
  • Excellent English and Nepali written communication skills
  • Prior experience in drafting releases, news items, stories and blogs for prominent business dailies or publications
  • Have a learning attitude with leadership skills as well as an ability to work within a team  
  • Proficiency in using office software such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint and other presentation tools; a basic knowledge of photo and video editing is a considerable advantage
  • Experience in enabling and maintaining a web presence for projects, and
  • Willing to travel outside the valley on short notice
  • Good working ability with GON staff at the national and district level

Remuneration and Contract Duration:

The contract will be issued on an annual basis with extensions contingent upon satisfactory performance, continued need for the services and availability of funds. Remuneration will competitive and as per LBG policy.
