Roles and responsibilities of this job

The Senior Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing civil construction projects from inception to completion of a building project involving basement construction and piling works in Kathmandu. This includes coordinating with various stakeholders, the Project manager, other staff, and ensuring compliance with regulations, managing bills, budgets and schedules, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) according to structural drawings
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly work schedules and track progress
Interpret architectural, structural, and geotechnical drawings and identify discrepancies
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, geotechnical consultants, MEP teams, and subcontractors,
Monitor manpower, materials, equipment, and ensure efficient site operation
Conduct quality checks for reinforcement, formwork, concreting, waterproofing, masonry, and finishing works,
Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards at the site,
Prepare DPR, WPR, MPR, inspection reports, material logs, and checklists
Assist in preparing and reviewing municipal permit pass documents, drawing submissions, and approvals
Provide technical solutions for site issues to avoid delays,
Support in quantity estimation, rate analysis, and verification of contractor bills
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Estimate actual cost against budget and identify potential cost overruns,
Oversee QC documentation (RFIs, Pour Cards, etc.) and ensure approvals before work begins,
Ensure compliance with IS codes, NBC standards, and project specifications.
Supervise quality tests of materials, workmanship, and site practices.
Report to the Project Manager with all drawings, documents, and approvals before starting any work

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 6 years

Other Specification

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 6-7 years of experience in civil construction project management with 2-3 years at high-rise buildings.
At least 2 high-rise projects have been completely handed over from the initial phase.
Must have strong exposure to basement construction, piling works, retaining structures, and foundation works.

Professional Skills Required:

Strong skills in planning, billing, budgeting, scheduling, and managing construction projects,
In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations,
Ability to lead and manage construction teams effectively,
Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines,
Software Knowledge: MS Project, AutoCAD, MS Office, OneDrive etc.
Leadership capability to manage site teams, subcontractors, and technical crews,
Ability to interpret Architectural and Structural drawing and identify discrepancies and resolve them proactively,
Good understanding of local authority permit pass, drawing approval processes, and necessary documentation,
Good problem-solving ability and capacity to work under challenging site conditions.

Requirement: Own vehicle and driving license are highly preferred.
