Child Protection Program Coordinator- 1 Position

Purpose: Child Protection Program Coordinator is responsible to ensure the quality of program delivery and the achievement of agreed outcomes in accordance with program design. S/he is responsible to achieve a rights-based, gender trans formative and inclusive program. S/he will also lead on influence work approach in program implementation, ensuring efficient technical support to partner NGOs.  S/he is accountable for leading the innovation and ensuring lessons learnt are constantly integrated in program interventions, thus continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness. S/he also leads the provincial level networking and advocacy in coordination with the Head of Child Protection Program, program teams and Communication teams

Term and Location: Fixed term employment for 3 years based in Mid-Western Hills Office, Jumla

Required Qualifications and  Experiences:

  • Master’s Degree in  social science, preferably specialization in child Protection, Social Work, Gender, Women Studies, Development Studies preferred or relevant field
  • At least 4 years of demonstrated experience working in mid-level leading and managing child protection programs
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of International and National child rights and protection program, project and policies
  • Experience of development and humanitarian issues affecting children, women and families 
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully using key influencing strategies such as advocacy, lobbying and movement building
  • Strong knowledge of child and women’s rights and gender justice
  • Good understanding of the development and NGO sector 
  • Essential experience of working with coalitions and networks
  • Analytical, strategic thinking and negotiating skills
  • Ability to build effective relations for influencing
  • Excellent organisation and prioritization skills
  • Good command of English and Nepali Language
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Proven IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc
  • Ability to priorities and multitask work when dealing with competing deadlines, sometimes with limited resources

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute in the process of drafting and finalizing program sector proposals working with program team at Field Office along with partner staff aligning with Country Strategy
  • Ensure that the Child Protection program is gender trans formative
  • Ensure that the Child Protection program builds on and generates evidence to inform Plan’s influencing agenda
  • Ensure effective program partnerships in Child Protection including meaningful participation and efficient use of resources to meet the program objectives and outcomes set out in the Country Strategy
  • Provide technical support in design and development of Child Protection strategy/mechanism to Municipality/Rural Municipalities
  • Provide direct supervision to partner NGO on  management of  Child Protection project with regards to  different technical/practical challenges 
  • Ensure project cycle is followed for each project including kick off meetings, drafting of project outlines, implementation of activities, mid and end term evaluation
  • Review all projects periodically under her/his portfolio management and ensure that project objectives are achieved effectively
  • Ensure that Plan’s contractual obligations on project targets and deliverable are met by responsible staff and implementation partners 
  • Make regular program reviews and provide feedback to the program team and partners with report to Head of Child Protection Program
  • Ensure that qualitative report has been submitted on time to CO for their submission to NO/ Donor
  • Ensure high degree of technical expertise while designing and implementing projects relevant to technical specifications/standards
  • Support partner organizations to ensure full compliance with grant conditions  
  • Ensure effective project monitoring by taking necessary corrective actions that are being followed up and reviewed periodically 
  • Undertake  frequent field monitoring visits and report performance against established schedules and targets
  • Work closely with Field Office team and strategic partners to achieve program quality as per Program Quality Policy 
  • Contribute to develop priority district and province level campaigns in line with global priority campaigns  
  • Lead sectoral networking and representation and build relationships and alliances with relevant networks, government bodies, federations and other agencies at district and provincial level
  • Lead evidence based lobby and advocacy within the sectoral program in planning and delivering campaigning and advocacy work and ensure that programme plans include influencing objectives
