  • Advanced degree or at least a Master-level degree in public health, development studies, social or medical sciences, or management, or a related advanced degree relevant to the broad areas of MNCH, FP and/or health systems
  • At least 7 years of senior level experience designing, implementing and managing complex MNCH, RH/FP and/or HSS programs in Asia or in developing countries elsewhere including prior experience as director of a donor-funded project or program
  • Excellent facilitation, oral and interpersonal communication, and presentation skills including excellent conceptual and writing skills
  • Technical expertise in adolescent health, family planning, and/or reproductive health
  • At least 5 years living and working in a developing country, preferably in Asia
  • Excellent networking and partnership building skills. This includes ability to access and interact with the highest levels of the health and population development community
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, depth and breadth of technical, management, and evaluation expertise for complex programs in resource-constrained countries
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with government agencies, host country governments and counterparts, and international donor agencies
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills as well as creative problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills
  • Readiness to travel in-country up to 30% of the time to supervise project activities in municipality and local levels
  • Fluency in English with professional proficiency in writing
  • Knowledge of USG Rules and Regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Nepali
  • Experience working in public health in Nepal
  • Prior experience as director or COP of a USAID-funded project or program

Job Description

  • Serve as the primary contact and principal JSI representative for USAID;
  • Provide overall leadership, vision and direction to the team and program partners;
  • Lead the team for successful implementation of the Project;
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure program quality;
  • Manage appropriate planning and monitoring to ensure informed decision-making and implementation of program activities;
  • Lead efforts to maintain and broaden collaborating organizations in order to disseminate and promote adoption of project innovations;
  • Manage all technical assistance and mentor program staff and partners;
  • Liaise and coordinate with stakeholders, including MOH and GON officials at high levels, to ensure alignment and support of priority interventions;
  • Ensure compliance of all requirements of the Cooperative Agreement;
  • Finalize quarterly and annual reports, and play a significant role in leading documentation of project processes and results;
  • Create a positive team environment through modeling effective communications, professionalism, and commitment to excellence; and
  • Represent JSI in the country, provide assistance to other JSI activities in Nepal as required, and assist with new business efforts as required.
