Job Description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Sherpa Hospitality Group is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the group. The CFO leads strategic financial planning, accounting, cashflow management, audit processes, and legal compliance across multiple legal entities within the hospitality and trekking sectors. This role demands a proactive approach in developing robust financial systems, optimizing resource allocation, managing risks, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. As a key advisor to the CEO and top management, the CFO drives strategic decision-making by providing actionable financial insights and maintaining transparency across the organization.

MAJOR DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain, adapt and manage the accounting infrastructure for all legal entities within Blue Company.
  • Drive the annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring adequate insurance coverage and asset protection.
  • Manage banking relationships, loans, and other financial instruments to optimize cost and liquidity.
  • Collaborate with department heads to track and control operating expenses.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international financial regulations affecting the hospitality and trekking industries.
  • Oversee tax planning, filing, and compliance to avoid financial penalties or legal challenges.
  • Maintain and safeguard all critical financial documents, legal contracts, regulatory filings, and tax records to ensure accessibility, confidentiality, and compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Support merger and acquisition activities, if applicable, by conducting financial due diligence.
  • Foster a culture of financial accountability and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
  • Drive an adequate performance-management and -review process for all staff in finance departments across the group.
  • Ensure proper management of all finance- and accounting staff and continuous development and training of staff.
  • Create a positive and motivating work environment resulting in employee satisfaction and a unique guest experience.
  • Active participation in senior management meetings SMT.

KPI's :

  • Timeliness and accuracy of monthly financial reports.
  • Adherence to approved budgets and variances.
  • Maintenance of a minimum cashflow threshold across all entities.
  • Successful completion of audits without major findings.
  • Compliance with local and international financial regulations.
  • Efficiency improvements in AR, AP, and procurement processes.
  • Achievement of cost-saving targets through optimized financial operations.
  • Staff satisfaction and retention rates in the finance department.
  • Effective execution of annual planning and budgeting cycles.
  • Reduction in financial risks and successful mitigation of audit observations.
