  • +2 degree in Hotel Management with the skills of Culinary Art. Knowledge of Bakery is preferred.
  • Ability to follow guidelines and recipes.
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation will be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of ingredients and produce
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a professional kitchen involving in management role.
  • Eager to learn vegetarian cuisine.
  • Must be able to prepare and cook for large groups of people.
  • Eligible candidates must have honest and sincere character without any drinking, smoking and other negative habits.
  • The capacity to work under extreme pressure
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office. 

Job Description

We are looking for a Mid-Level Cook to prepare meals for our Buddhist monastery.

The Mid-Level Cook identifies priorities on food quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and running a smooth shift. The Chef builds smooth working environment through their behavior, delivering on promises to our team, guests, vendors, and our community. The Chef manages costs, builds Team membership, and maintains accountability for achieving success in these areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing meals and food to meet specification of monastery in timely manner.
  • Taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other sides duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions.
  • Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirement.
  • Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation.
  • Label and organize all the cooked and uncooked food items in the fridge, pantry, and storeroom.
  • Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
  • Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward.
  • Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized.
