Roles and responsibilities of this job
UNDERSTANDING AND PLANNING TO EXCEED CLIENT EXPECTATIONS
§ Develops basic understanding of client's business in order to identify issues and provide recommendations in own assigned areas for inclusion in management letters.
§ Develops understanding of service offerings within and across lines of service to identify opportunities to meet client needs.
MANAGING THE ENGAGEMENT FOR EFFECTIVENESS
§ Applies appropriate accounting principles and auditing standards to reach and support conclusions related to assigned areas.
§ Contributes to discussions (asks questions, provides valued inputs).
§ Obtains needed information from available client data and conducts appropriate client data analysis.
§ Reviews client practices within an assigned area of responsibility and refers possible problems and solutions to team leader quickly.
§ Keeps current on industry trends affecting clients (e.g., reads trade journals).
§ Appropriately utilises industry-specific terminology.
§ Applies basic understanding of client's industry operations when obtaining data and reaching conclusions.
MANAGING THE ENGAGEMENT TO MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCY
§ Fully understands purpose and objectives of assigned areas before commencing work.
§ Keeps team manager informed of progress.
§ Monitors own time against budget and inform Team Manager of potential variances on a timely basis.
MAINTAINING EFFECTIVE RISK MANAGEMENT
§ Demonstrates awareness of firm's risk management policies and procedures by identifying and referring ethical, independence and conflict issues to team manager and/or engagement leader.
§ Consults with Team Manager on a timely basis when variances to standard practices are encountered.
UTILIZING AND DEVELOPING OUR PEOPLE EFFECTIVELY
§ Takes ownership of personal career development (e.g., actively contributes to setting objectives).
§ Proactively seeks ongoing coaching and feedback on performance and responds effectively.

USING TECHNOLOGY EFFECTIVELY
§ Effectively and proactively utilises basic capabilities of audit technology tools and other firm standard technologies to perform and document work in assigned areas.

COMMUNICATING CONTINUOUSLY WITH THE CLIENT
§ Conducts interviews to gather information (e.g., using appropriate style, using predetermined guides).
§ Prepares internal written documents in a clear and concise, incorporating proper punctuation and correct usage of grammar.
§ Orally communicates information and ideas clearly and concisely.
§ Demonstrates effective listening skills (e.g., asking follow up questions to gain clarity, discern opinion from fact, respects different perspectives).
EVALUATING PERFORMANCE TO IDENTIFY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT
§ Honestly assesses own performance, accurately defining strengths and areas for improvement.
§ Proactively suggests ways to improve own performance/approach to work and client service delivery.
§ Seeks and incorporates feedback from supervisors and team members.
§ Provides upward feedback
