Job Description

The Cashier is responsible for handling point of sale operations, maintaining accurate transaction records and ensuring excellent customer service. This role supports inventory checks, merchandising and the overall upkeep of the commissary area. The cashier also assists with receiving stocks and promoting a welcoming shopping environment. A strong attention to detail, professionalism, and teamwork are essential in delivering efficient daily operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Cash Handling & Point of Sale Operations :

  • Take the opening and closing cash balance at the counter.
  • Process customer transactions and operate the cash register (POS).
  • Receive and record payments; maintain daily sales sheets.
  • Submit daily cash receipts and sales reports to the Retail & Supply Chain Manager for verification.
  • Create invoices and entries for all transactions.
  • Verify daily sales reports with invoices and report discrepancies to the supervisor.

B. Commissary Merchandising :

  • Stay informed on ongoing promotions and advise members accordingly.
  • Recommend promotions to the Retail & Supply Chain Manager.
  • Ensure that all shelves are clean and well-organized.
  • Ensure all products are properly stocked, priced, and well-presented. 
  • Move and merchandise stock creatively to enhance product visibility and sales.

C. Commissary Inventory : 

  • Conduct daily and monthly inventory checks
  • Record and report damaged goods to the Manager for documentation.
  • Inform the Supervisor of infested items and remove them from premises.

D. Customer Service : 

  • Represent AMA in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, and product-related questions.
  • Forward any customer complaints, suggestions, compliments to the supervisor.
  • Promote service excellence that encourages repeat business.
  • Uphold high standards of grooming and appearance.

E. Service Support & Cleanliness : 

  • Maintain cleanliness in the POS area, retail space, and warehouse.
  • Support loading goods and assist the inventory team during the receipt of the new container shipment.
  • All freezers and refrigerators should be cleaned at least twice a week.
  • Receive bulk orders and assist with member orders as required. 
  • Support event set up and other special requests.
  • Ensure all guest needs and incidents are communicated to senior staff.
  • Provide product information and feedback to management.
  • Report equipment issues and support a safe, secure work environment.
  • Implement new policies and support procedural updates.
  • Attend meetings and participate in training sessions when scheduled.
  • Other tasks assigned by the manager or supervisor.
