The Capacity Strengthening and Localization Specialist) is responsible for strengthening capacity of IPs to prepare them for transition to direct funding from the donors and support in localization towards sustainability. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop or revise/update capacity strengthening strategy/plan of EpiC Nepal and ensure its implementation.  
  • Develop or revise/update capacity assessment tools and conduct organizational capacity assessment of the IP using the tools.
  • Conduct periodic sharing of capacity strengthening activities status. 
  • Represent EpiC Nepal in capacity strengthening and transition/localization related meetings, webinar and seminars.  
  • Identify IPs and staff, prepare plan and mobilize for south-to-south support.
  • Hire and mobilize short term human resources for capacity strengthening support to selected IPs.
  • Organize capacity strengthening related trainings/workshop/orientation for EpiC staff and IPs
  • Identify and facilitate the planning of technical assistance and consultants (local, regional and international) in accordance with program needs and workplan. 
  • Coordinate and guide IP for domestic resource mobilization (DRM) for HIV.
  • Review capacity strengthening and localization-related documents, prepare and provide regular technical updates on cutting edge capacity strengthening practices for long-term sustainability to FHI 360 staff, Government counterparts and collaborating partners.
  • Establish strong relationship and develop ongoing coordination mechanism with independent training institutions, professionals/individuals, and government departments responsible for capacity strengthening in HIV. 
  • Visit FHI 360 IPs on a regular basis to ensure appropriate technical assistance is provided for capacity strengthening activities through mentoring, coaching and follow up activities planned.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor, Deputy Project Director, Project Director and Country Director. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in social science or related field and three years of relevant work experience in development sector with emphasis on capacity strengthening  and organizational development support to NGOs or bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant work experience)
  • Skills and experience in program management, organizational development, project cycle management, organizational assessments, strategic planning, training, facilitation, and NGO capacity strengthening
  • Strong negotiation, coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills (diplomacy, patience, listening and facilitation)
  • Proactive and independent approach to work with willingness to undertake additional responsibilities 
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Resourceful in resolving problems and initiating solutions 
  • Fluency in English and Nepali (spoken, written, typing)
