Job Description

Assistant Library Officer is responsible for collecting, organizing and issuing library resources. S/he must assist students with locating information, stocks shelves, and checks out books and materials as required.

Roles and responsibilities

Book Keeping

  • S/he must prepare the required book list before the beginning of each semester. S/he must record the new book in the system and also should record and maintain the late fine records of the student. Assistant Library Officer must suggest the necessary policies for the coming semester and provide feedback of the implemented policies.

Student Service

  • Assistant Library Officer must ensure the code of conduct is strictly followed by students. S/He must ensure that the library meets the needs of the students and must inform about the library policies. S/He is responsible to coordinate with Finance and Account Section for student’s fine affair. S/he must compile lists of overdue materials, and notify borrowers that their materials are overdue.

Coordination with Department Heads

  • S/He must coordinate with the Department Heads for new book inventories.

Daily Library Management

  • S/he must involve, coordinate and supervise daily function of the Department. S/he must assure the smooth functioning of the department. S/he must also ensure that the library resources are organized so they are easy to locate. Assistant Library Officer must organize collections of books, publications, documents, audiovisual aids, and other reference materials for convenient access.

Procurement

  • S/he must be involved in procurement process of the library resources. S/he must list the books to be procured and must coordinate with the publication till the procurement activities are over.

Maintain Databases and Filing Systems

  • Assistant Library Officer is responsible to design, implement and maintain filing systems, both electronic and paper. The database of books and their availability, record and feedback must be maintained and communicated on a regular basis as per the requests from the Principal, Vice-Principal, Admin officer and other Departments.

E-Library

  • S/he must contribute in the development of E-Library and ensure that the e-resources are updated till date.

Events

  • S/he must develop, plan and conduct programs, conference to develop, promote reading and writing of students and strengthen the library functions. 

Duty Station:

The duty station is Kathford International College of Engineering and Management (Engineering Block), Balkumari, Lalitpur.
