Role Overview:

The operational engineer is responsible for ensuring stability, performance, security, and compliance of all infra-cloud-hosted services. The role involves maintaining cloud infrastructures and prem infrastructures supporting integrations, provisioning, deprovisioning, and overseeing operational governance, including inventory, risk assessment, and system reliability.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Operations:

Manage, monitor, and optimize infrastructures across all data centers, cloud platforms & environments.
Implement auto-scaling, high availability, and performance tuning strategies.
Maintain CI/CD pipelines for both internal & external customers & services.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring and configuration.
Troubleshoot and resolve infra, db, OS, cloud-related issues across environments, backup of systems etc.
Network configuration on different layers, focus on software defined networks.
Prepare/automate reports, analyze logs/ events from all systems and databases on a daily/ weekly basis and take the necessary actions.
Check and ensure proper installation, upgrading and deployment of IT systems (on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments) and databases to provide the optimal run and uptime.
Perform administration and proactive maintenance of IT systems (on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments) and databases and take corrective actions.
Enhance IT systems and databases through Automation utilizing tools for proactive monitoring and daily operation.

Service Inventory and Compliance:

Maintain a detailed inventory of all production, test, standby services, including, Provision the virtual/cloud machines and storages and their management.
Platform details, Technology stack and software versions used in each service
Open-source license compliance and third-party dependency tracking
Ensure all documentation is up to date for audit and compliance readiness.
Plan, forecast, and optimize IT systems (OS, Server, Storage, SAN, NAS, Virtual Infrastructure, Network devices, etc).
Develop runbooks, documentation, and operational SOPs for repeatable processes.
Advocate for automation, observability, and operational excellence.

Risk Assessment and Service Prioritization:

Perform risk assessments for each service focusing on:
Trust: Customer data handling (in-transit, temporary storage, permanent storage)
Availability: Impact of system unavailability or degradation
Prioritize services based on risk and implement appropriate controls.
Collaborate with engineering teams to design for redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery.

Security and Compliance:

Conduct periodic security assessments and vulnerability scans
Ensure authentication and authorization mechanisms follow best practices (SSO, MFA, RBAC).
Maintain access control matrices — define who can access which services and data.
Apply latest patches and security updates across all cloud components.
Coordinate penetration testing (Pen Test) and remediation activities.
Ensure compliance with internal and customer security standards.

Education Qualification and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
2-4 years of experience in Cloud Operations, DevSecOps, or Infrastructure Management and system architecture.
Hands-on experience in IT infra & secure deployment practices.
Excellent knowledge of mainstream Hardware Technologies across Servers, Storages, and network equipment.
Strong understanding of networking, IAM, load balancers, VPCs, and DNS.
Proven experience designing high-availability, mission-critical systems.
Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
Knowledge of DevSecOps and
Maintain current on all assigned internal training of the Company’s as assigned in the QMS.
Comply with all internal Quality and Information Security Company’s requirements
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux-based OS and Windows Servers, Windows OS,
Sound knowledge of Cloud Technologies, CSPs functioning and Security/Compliance Standards in Cloud.
Knowledge of Enterprise Services like Exchange, DNS, Antivirus, EDR, File Servers etc.
Knowledge of Networking, Routing and Virtualization Platforms preferably on OLVM, PCA and KVM based virtualization.
Familiar with Backup / Restore, SAN, NAS, Storage and Redundancy Technologies.
Knowledge of Database Administration in different OS Environments.
Knowledge of Programming/ Scripting to deliver Automation on Operational Tasks.
Knowledge of RAID, High availability of Servers, Mirroring, Replication and Clustering of Databases and Clustering of different applications etc, Windows cluster managements.
Knowledge of OS, Database, Application Security and patching of Systems and Databases.
System and Database administration, installation, Optimization and Data Migration.
Professional certifications are preferred.
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Exposure to ISO 27001, SOC 2 compliance environments.
Any other duties as assigned
