The Chief Engineer shall be responsible for the overall
operation, maintenance, safety, and reliability of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing
(MEP) systems of Lemon tree Bandipur hotel, including the hotel, commercial facilities,
restaurants, public areas, and supporting infrastructure.
The position requires a technically competent and hands-on
professional capable of independently managing engineering operations at a remote site outside
Kathmandu while ensuring uninterrupted guest services, regulatory compliance, preventive
maintenance, energy efficiency, and effective emergency response.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Electrical System Management
- Overall operation, inspection, and maintenance of HT and LT
electrical distribution systems.
- Manage all LT Panels, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, Capacitor Banks,
Busbars, MCC Panels, and control panels.
- Ensure safe electrical load management and distribution
throughout the property.
- Monitor power quality, voltage fluctuations, harmonics, and
electrical safety.
- Prepare preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical
equipment.
- Ensure all electrical systems comply with Nepal Electricity
Authority (NEA) standards.
2. Transformer & Substation Management
- Supervise operation and maintenance of transformers and
associated switchgear.
- Monitor transformer oil level, insulation resistance,
temperature, and protection systems.
- Coordinate annual testing and servicing.
- Ensure proper earthing and lightning protection systems are
functional.
- Maintain all transformer operation and maintenance records.
3. Diesel Generator (DG) Management
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of DG sets.
- Ensure automatic synchronization and emergency backup
functionality.
- Monitor fuel consumption and maintain adequate fuel stock.
- Schedule routine servicing and load testing.
- Maintain DG logbooks and operational records.
- Coordinate with suppliers for spare parts and major repairs.
4. HVAC System Management
- Responsible for complete HVAC operation including:
- Air Handling Units (AHU)
- Fresh Air Units (FAU)
- Air Washers
- Kitchen Ventilation Systems
- Exhaust Systems
- Pressurization Fans
- Toilet Exhaust Systems
- Staircase Pressurization
- Split AC Units
- VRF/VRV Systems
- Ventilation Systems
- Duties include:
- Maintain indoor air quality.
- Monitor chilled water or refrigerant systems.
- Optimize energy consumption.
- Ensure guest comfort.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate annual HVAC servicing.
5. STP & Water Treatment Plant
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of:
- Sewage Treatment Plant (STP)
- Water Treatment Plant (WTP)
- Water Softener
- Pressure Pumps
- Transfer Pumps
- Booster Pumps
- Raw Water Pumps
- Fire Water Pumps
- Responsibilities include:
- Ensure treated water meets environmental standards.
- Monitor water quality parameters.
- Maintain pumps and dosing systems.
- Coordinate sludge disposal.
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the property.
6. Plumbing & Water Supply System
- Oversee complete plumbing network.
- Maintain domestic water supply.
- Monitor underground and overhead water tanks.
- Repair leakages.
- Maintain valves and pipelines.
- Ensure uninterrupted hot and cold-water supply.
- Supervise sanitary systems and drainage.
7. Fire Protection System
- Responsible for maintenance of:
- Fire Alarm System
- Fire Hydrant System
- Fire Pumps
- Sprinkler System
- Fire Extinguishers
- Emergency Exit Lighting
- Smoke Detectors
- Gas Suppression Systems
- Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and
coordinate annual inspections.
8. Lift & Vertical Transportation
- Manage all elevators and lifting equipment including:
- Passenger Lifts
- Service Lifts
- Dumbwaiters
- Responsibilities include:
- Daily operational inspection.
- Coordinate Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC).
- Ensure statutory inspections are completed.
- Attend lift breakdowns immediately.
- Maintain service records.
9. Electronic Door Lock System
- Responsible for:
- Hotel electronic door Onity lock systems.
- RFID card programming.
- Lock troubleshooting.
- Battery replacement.
- Coordination with Front Office.
- Access control management.
- Lock software management.
10. Kitchen & Laundry Equipment
- Supervise maintenance of:
- Kitchen Equipment
- Walk-in Chillers
- Freezers
- Dishwashers
- Exhaust Hood Systems
- Steam Equipment

- Coordinate servicing with specialized vendors.
11. Preventive Maintenance
- Develop Annual Preventive Maintenance Plans.
- Daily engineering inspections.
- Weekly equipment review.
- Monthly maintenance schedules.
- Annual shutdown planning.
- Maintain maintenance history records.
12. Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain engineering asset register.
- Control spare parts inventory.
- Maintain minimum stock levels.
- Forecast annual engineering budgets.
- Verify engineering purchases.
- Recommend equipment replacement.
13. Vendor & Contractor Management
- Supervise contractors.
- Verify work completion.
- Review technical proposals.
- Ensure quality workmanship.
- Monitor AMC performance.
- Coordinate warranty claims.
14. Energy Management
- Monitor electricity consumption.
- Reduce operational costs.
- Implement energy-saving initiatives.
- Monitor DG fuel efficiency.
- Prepare monthly utility reports.
- Recommend efficiency improvements.
15. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:

- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

- Maintain:

- Submit weekly and monthly engineering reports to the General
Manager Hospitality.
17. Team Leadership
- Supervise engineering technicians.
- Allocate daily work assignments.
- Conduct technical training.
- Evaluate staff performance.
- Maintain engineering discipline.
- Develop succession planning.
18. Emergency Response
- Lead engineering response during:
- Power failures
- Transformer faults
- DG failures
- Water shortages
- HVAC breakdowns
- Fire emergencies
- Flooding
- Equipment failures
- Ensure engineering teams remain available for emergency
support on a 24/7 basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Electro-Mechanical
- Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Master's Degree shall be an added advantage.
- Registration with the Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) is
preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in hotel engineering, large
commercial buildings,
- hospitality or resort projects.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or Assistant Chief Engineer
role
- Experience managing remote site engineering operations is
highly desirable.
Required Competencies
- Candidate with strong troubleshooting abilities, crisis
management skills, and proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems are
preferred.
