SMEC has operated in Nepal since 1968. SMEC’s first project in Nepal was the 300 MW Karnali Hydropower Project. SMEC provided project planning services and undertook feasibility studies on the project.

Since then, SMEC has worked on a range of projects throughout Nepal including: a water resources and energy training program on behalf of the Government of Nepal; Rasuwagadhi Hydroelectric Project; Kathmandu Sustainable Urban Transport Project; and the Sanjen (Upper) and Sanjen Hydroelectric Project located approximately 160 km north of Kathmandu.

More recently, SMEC has been awarded a contract by the Government of Nepal’s Department of Electricity Development to provide detailed engineering designs and Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) on the 20 MW Budhi Ganga Hydropower Project.

Job Description

Qualification: Master's degree in Architecture

Work experience after master's degree :

The Candidate should have at least ten years of working experience in the design of Buildings (Residential, Commercial, Hospitality), Public spaces, Landscaping, and Land Pooling
Experience in preparing or reviewing city Bylaws, preparing settlement plans, Conservation of Heritages and Monuments is required
Experience in IFI-assisted projects is highly desirable
Having good design knowledge and multi-disciplinary team coordination

General Qualification:

Having good design knowledge and multi-disciplinary team coordination.
Member of Society of Nepalese Architects
Chartered membership with International (RIBA)
Ability to sign authority submissions.

Software Skills:

Proficiency with Auto CAD/ Revit and Lumion, CS- Photoshop, Sketchup, and other related software
