Plantation Initiative Nepal (PIN) is a non-profit non-governmental organization registered with the District Administration Office (DAO), Lalitpur with registration number: 5605/2075. It is registered with the Social Welfare Council (SWC); 48774. The main office is located in Bagdol, Lalitpur. PIN has been focusing on landscape restoration and community livelihood upliftment all around Nepal with programs in 16 districts from Jhapa in the east to Kalikot in the west.

Plantation Initiative Nepal is implementing Eden Reforestation Projects since 2015. Eden Reforestation Projects works in developing regions of the world to protect and restore forests and ecosystems by working with local communities to address and mitigate the drivers of landscape degradation. Eden has active programming in Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

Fostering healthy relationship between communities and the land on which we all depend through landscape restoration and conservation.

Job Description

Responsibilities assigned are not limited to given ones but should show the eagerness to handle given responsibilities as per organization requirement. 

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Have an understanding of the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Regular travel will be required.
  • Overseeing agroforestry projects in each of the areas where we are operating.
  • Guide nursery manager to conduct nursery activities from construction of nursery to growing of seedlings in nursery till plantation and provide required suggestions to solve emerging issues.
  • Guide nursery manager to collect local seeds available in respective sites and sow them in nursery as available. 
  • Good understanding on the socio-economic and environmental issues of Nepalese agriculture.
  • Develop and maintain agroforestry networks, contacts and partnerships in the region.
  • Provide technical input through the design and delivery of training and other activities relevant to agroforestry activities.
  • Oversee the aspects of seedling production and distribution.
  • Assist the project team land use planning relative activities.
  • Organize and facilitate field level meetings, workshop, group discussion, and training activities.
  • Working with the monitoring department to create monitoring protocols and work plans to track ecological and social impacts of the project activities.
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting teams throughout the project sites to complete our agroforestry objectives.
  • Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress on all project activities to the Program Officer.

  • Organizes and accurately completes multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, deadlines, available resources and multiple reporting relationships.
  • Plans, coordinates and organizes workload while remaining aware of changing priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Relates well to people from all backgrounds and levels and treats everyone with respect.
