Job Description

Contract Type: Initially, a probation period of six months and following the probation period, a full-time engagement for one year with possibility of renewal on annual basis.

Duty Station: The Agroecology Field Officer will be a 100% field-based mobile position based in Dolpa district.

Project Location: Project locations are situated in remote parts of Dolpa district in Karnali Province. Traveling to and within the project site involves extensive walking and living with community members.

Minimum Requirement and Competencies:

  • Has Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science with 2 years of experience in similar position
  • Has hands-on knowledge of farming and aptitude towards agroecology.
  • Has extensive knowledge and skills on principles of agroecology, agroecological transformation approaches and strategies.
  • Is contextualized with remote and isolated rural context.
  • Can live and extensively walk in remote areas for extended periods.
  • Has good interpersonal skills with ability to build personal and team-based relationships with staff, partners and leaders at different levels.
  • Is analytical, finds and proactively shares sources of knowledge and is a problem solver.
  • Has proven leadership skills and experiences in capacity building including trainings, coaching and mentoring.
  • Has ability in collaborative policy advocacy and joint action with various stakeholders including farmers, groups, media, municipal leaders and officials.
  • Has good command of oral and written English and Nepali.
