National Association of People Living with HIV in Nepal (NAP+N) is a national network of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) was established in 2003 that works at the national level and local community-based organizations and communities with a mission to strengthen the voice of PLHIV through the formation and strengthening of networks and association of PLHIV to respond to the challenges of HIV and AIDS in Nepal. NAP+N focuses on building the capacity of local PLHIV groups to respond appropriately to the needs of PLHIV and its related key populations in areas of advocacy, prevention, care, and support, counseling, raising community awareness, providing information and education, and improving access to the healthcare and legal services. 

NAP+N is seeking applications from qualified, smart, and result-oriented Nepali citizens for the following positions to support HIV and TB programs focusing on HIV case finding among other vulnerable populations (Migrant and their spouse) in the community.

Main Purpose of the Job

Lead in the efficient and effective implementation of HIV related research activities.

Reports to: National Coordinator
Duty Station: Project Management Team at Center office and frequently travel to project sites and partner organizations
Position type: Contract
Contract Duration: Initially up to 31st August 2022 and possibility of extension

Role Purpose: 

This position support the Program team of NAP+N of HIV and AIDS program related activities under EpiC project contract between FHI360 and National Association of PLWHA in Nepal.

The Advocacy Officer is one of the members of the EpiC Project. The Advocacy Officer will work closely under the supervision of National Coordinator. This position will support the CBOs for Advocacy at district/unit level, support on advocacy activities of HIV and AIDS and others as assigned by line Manager. 

Responsibilities:

Following is the list of specific duties and responsibilities that fall within the scope of the job. The incumbent will perform these tasks when necessary and as appropriate, depending on the context. In addition, it may be necessary for the individual to perform duties and responsibilities that, while not specifically listed below, fall under the general categories of this job description and are within the spirit of the job.

Under the general guidance and supervision of National Coordinator, the incumbent will provide the following services:

  • Assist National Coordinator in Designing, planning and implementing advocacy strategy.
  • Organizing seminars, workshops and special lectures; shall spend much of the time in correspondence with speakers, press and invitees.
  • Write and send press releases, write seminar reports and undertake background research on the topics of seminars.
  • Assist National Coordinator in writing up budgets and take care of logistics for speakers, invitees and participants.
  • Actively participate and represent the organization in various networks and movements to share NAP+N position on various issues after in-house consultation.
  • Support the process to form networks with various stakeholders such as development sector donors, NGOs, private sector, research organizations and academic institutions to mobilize their support for sustainable development initiatives.
  • Assist National Coordinator in recording minutes of the meetings (where required), and preparation of “Advocacy Unit” reports for various purposes.
  • Keep tabs on research and use the channels of advocacy to facilitate the process of lobbying for policy making/change.
  • Any other tasks that may be identified by National Coordinator; 

Required Competency: 

  • University Bachelor degree in any relevant field 
  • At least 3 years of working experience in Advocacy sector. 
  • Ability to work with target groups they are people living with HIV/AIDS,
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team work skills.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.
  • Command in report preparation, event note and record keeping,
  • Proficiency on computer usage on office Packages, email and internet,
