Job Description

Work Purpose: Lead WVIN’s advocacy initiatives to  contribute  to  achievement of Country  Strategy priority development objectives and to  create  conducive environment  for effective implementation of development  and humanitarian projects  through  liaising,  capacity building, mobilization and  effective implementation of advocacy initiatives at district and national level.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead on WVIN’s national Advocacy strategy development and implementation;
  • Ensure community-led advocacy is effectively implemented at local level across field programmes, including in partnership with service providers and local authorities;
  • Build and manage external partnerships to enhance WVIN’s reputation,  leverage resources  and
  • enhance sustainable outcomes for  the well-being of children;
  • Ensure results management, continuous improvement, and best practice is applied to all advocacy programming;
  • Support response operations to address possible operational blockages in recovery phase;
  • Other   responsibilities fulfilled  to  enhance  success  of Public Engagement team  and  WVIN in achieving strategic objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field–Social Science, development studies/ rural development or in education  from recognised university with at least five years’ work experience in development work in Nepal, Previous work in developing advocacy strategies and network management & at least two years advocacy experience
  • Strong research skills and relevant research in the advocacy related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to draw commitment from other parts of the organization.
  • Good understanding of different approaches to policy advocacy and the requirements these involve.
  • Strong team player – must be able to form and lead a number of cross-functional working groups.
  • Fluent in Nepali with good written and spoken English and Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
