KOSHISH is a non-governmental self-help organization registered in District Administration Office, Kathmandu in 2008 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council. KOSHISH is a right-based organization working extensively in advocacy in and multi-disciplinary and holistic mental health and psychosocial support in Nepal. In addition, KOSHISH is also working in system strengthening and creating a model that the government and other stakeholders may able to replicate.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation & public relation skills in both English and Nepali.

  • The person should have the ability to balance the work pressure between the KOSHISH central team for the overall technical guidance and the local project manager to execute and plan the operation without compromising the qualities of delivery.
  • Flexible and able to multitask on several different aspects of the projects.
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel etc.
  • Empathetic, Energetic with receptive learning attitude.

Education Level: Master`s Degree or equivalent in human rights, international relations, law, disability, social work or any other related field 

Experience required: A minimum of 3 years of experience in the similar field


Job Description

Reports to: Program Director 

Scope of the Position: 

The Advocacy Coordinator will overall be responsible for leading the advocacy part of the  project to empower the Persons with Disabilities through skill development and livelihood support in  close coordination with the consortium team led by CBM ensuring that mental health and the issues of psychosocial disability is well integrated into the project activities. The employee ensures the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of the project while achieving outputs and outcomes according to the agreed project plan considering the existing policies, strategies, and procedures of KOSHISH. The person represents KOSHISH and is responsible to ensure the interventions laid out for the same. 

Specific Responsibilities:

The employee is responsible for coordination, communication, implementation, monitoring, supervision, and reporting to meet the objectives of the project as well as to ensure the quality of delivery of the project as per the plan of action and implementation guideline. The person has to work in the consortium project team comprises of CBM, DEC-Nepal and KOSHISH. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, support and facilitate the project team including funding and consortium partners in the implementation of the project activities as per logframe, project implementation guideline, and plan of action with wider participation of all stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of laws, programs, policies and regulations related to disability rights and mental health at the Provincial and Local Level.
  • Orient, capacitate and sensitize the project team, stakeholders, and community groups            (Self-Help Groups) in disability rights in general and the rights of the person with psychosocial disability in particular.
  • Conduct policy advocacy and periodic dialogues with the local government, CSOs and stakeholders on disability rights and inclusive livelihood 
  • Coordinate and advocate with TVET providers and support them to improve their gender and disability inclusion through policies and practices. 
  • Promote inclusive government planning and budgeting with local government for mental health promotion and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities and provide necessary technical support. 
  • Support for developing tools/materials and conducting orientation, training, workshop at the community, and municipal level and support as resource person as per need
  • Manage, and supervise the work project staff which includes the mentoring and coaching, facilitation/technical support  for professional/capacity development, and conducting performance reviews and address any challenges that may arise.
  • Prepare annual, semi-annual, periodic and event reports.
  • Establish/improve the proper knowledge management and documentation through research/study, documentation the success stories, best practices, innovations and learning.
  • Guiding, mentoring and closely work with the Psychosocial counsellor from KOSHISH 
  • Any other task assigned by the organization relevant with the job.  

Travel required: This position is supposed to oversee the project implemented in Banke and Dang. Thus, frequent travel to the project area and central office is required whenever needed. 

Remuneration and Benefit: Negotiable as per competence and experience
