Position Summary
The Advocacy Advisor is responsible for the project’s plan for engaging the Government of Nepal (GON) and advancing policy and institutional reforms and enforcement at the sub-national and national level through advocacy efforts. CSM advocacy efforts will focus on advocacy to advance public interest that promotes civil society credibility; and advocacy for strengthening civil society. The Advocacy Advisor works closely with the project teams to strengthen subnational-level media outlets’ and CSOs’ capacity to effectively use advocacy strategies, and to carry out oversight of public resource use and service delivery. S/he will be responsible for designing and overseeing mentoring, training, and the development of job aids that improves the ability of civil society actors to represent their constituents and hold public officials accountable. The Advocacy Advisor also supports capacity building of national-level CSOs, media organizations, and coalitions to effectively engage Parliamentarians and other GON stakeholders in effective advocacy for policy reform. The Advocacy Advisor develops and maintains working relationships with various GON stakeholders and secures GON buy-in for project activities.
