The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable and qualified professionals for the Climate Resilient for Organic Smallholders in Nepal (CROSIN) Project. 

CROSIN is a development partnership with aQysta BV, Midsona and GIZ under the develoPPP Programme that aims to increase the climate resilience and income of smallholder farmers in Nepal through the promotion of regenerative organic agriculture, the use of renewable energy in agro-processing and irrigation, and the development of transparent, traceable supply chains for export-oriented organic products.The overall objective of the project is to increase climate resiliency of smallholder farmers in the project regions in Nepal.

The project focuses on five key areas:

  1. Organic agriculture with agroforestry: Onboard farmers into organic value chains, build their capacity through tailored training and inputs, and engage farmers to scale knowledge.
  2. Renewable energy powered agro-processing: Upgrade agro-processing facilities by integrating renewable energy powered technologies and improving quality standards.
  3. Renewable energy powered irrigation: Support farmer groups with renewable irrigation systems and promote sustainable water use.
  4. Responsible supply chain, with end-to-end digital traceability and transparency: Stablish a responsible supply chain with digital traceability, helping farmers monitor crops and ensure transparency.
  5. Disseminate and scale up: Promote Nepali organic products locally and in Europe by engaging stakeholders, influencing policies, and onboarding actors in spices and medicinal herbs.

Advisor – Training Coordination

Position: Advisor – Training Coordination

Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent field travel in the project locations

Key Responsibilities:

Training Design & Quality Assurance

  • Create an inventory of training manuals available at the project partners and the GRAPE project
  • Conduct a gap-analysis to identify to what extent the training materials address the challenges of the farmers identified in the proposal
  • Use existing and new training materials (identified during gap analysis) to develop training modules for farmers
  • Make a training plan that divides different training modules across GIZ staff, aQysta staff and external consultants
  • Ensure that all training modules (farming, financing, quality, market prices, farmer organizations, etc.) are aligned with project standards & requirements and are tailored to meet the practical needs of farmers
  • Coordinate the effort of technical experts in the project to develop or update training content that is practical, relevant, outcome-oriented and coherent across all themes.
  • Maintain KPIs and quality benchmarks for training content and delivery, including trainer performance, materials used, adoption rate, outcomes (e.g. yield, compliance) and methodology
  • Provide inputs to M&E indicators related to training

Feedback Integration

  • Collect and analyze feedback from buyers, implementing partners, quantitative KPIs (e.g. yields, price levels) and farmers.
  • Revise and adapt training content based on the feedback to ensure alignment with market expectations and buyer requirements.
  • Maintain a feedback loop mechanism to ensure continuous improvement

Training Sequencing & Curriculum Planning

  • Design the sequence and progression of training for farmers based on crop cycle, skill level, and seasonal requirements in consultation with the partners involved
  • Ensure logical flow and thematic consistency across training sessions

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Develop and manage detailed training calendars for all five clusters
  • Coordinate with field staff, local facilitators, and trainers (consultants) to ensure timely and efficient delivery of training
  • Monitor attendance and participation levels and address barriers to participation

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Regularly monitor training delivery across all locations to ensure adherence to schedules and quality standards.
  • Maintain training records, session reports, and progress documentation
  • Provide regular updates and performance reports to the project management team

Scaling

  • Collaborate with project partners and government liaison expert to scale adoption of training through government extension officers for finalized training journey

Required Qualifications, Competency and Skill:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Rural Development, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training coordination, preferably in agricultural or rural development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate feedback and adapt training content accordingly
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and team coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in local language(s) and familiarity with local farming practices
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Willingness to travel across project clusters
