Karnali Poverty Abatement and Development Forum (KPADF) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organizationregistered in District Administration Office Mugu in 2062 and affiliated to Social Welfare Council in 2063. KPDAF has been implementing various projects in the field of community development, health & WASH, poverty alleviation in Mugu district.

Currently, KPADF has been implementing the WASH in School Project in Khatyad Rural Municipality, Soru Rural Municipality and ChhayanthRara Municipality of Mugu districtin partnership with Good Neighbors Japan. The key interventions of the project are to construct gender friendly, MHM friendly, disable friendly and child friendly drinking water facilities, toilets, hand washing stations, incinerators, waste pits, water quality tests, water facility maintenance and promotion of water sanitation and hygiene environment in 31 schools and its’ surrounding communities.

Position based: Mugu District
Application Deadline: 4th May, 2021

Duration of Contract: One year with the possibility of extension
Gross Salary: Rs. 60,838 /annum

Job Description:

Financial Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Financial and Accounting Functions

  • Prepare a set of monthly financial reports as per the requirements in the prescribed format and submit to GNJP project office in a monthly basis on time.
  • Maintain petty cash and ensure that all the items are purchased on compatible market prices.
  • Ensure that the Fund received from the project has been used for the project and the purpose for which the fund has been provided.
  • Ensure that all the financial and tax rules and regulations have been adhered into.
  • Implement and follow up the recommendations and instructions provided from GNJP and external auditors.
  • Carry other financial and accounting related functions as per the requirement GNJP.
  • Keep updated record of all financial transactions in the FAMAS software. 
  • Handle cash and treasury operations with advanced use of spread sheets for tracking expenses and payroll system with tax applications, controls for ensuring proper transactions.

B. Reporting and documentation

  • Analyze the Monthly/periodical fund and report to the project authority.
  • Prepare and submission of monthly/periodical reports along with necessary supporting documents.
  • Organize monthly financial review meeting.

C. Compliance

  • Implement GNJP financial policies and procedures and Comply with the national accounting and financial policies and procedures.

Administrative duties and Responsibilities:

A. General Administration

  • Provide administrative support to Project Office and maintain good working environment in work area.
  • Comply with safety of office supplies, materials, equipment and physical facilities.
  • Facilitate induction and orientation of newly recruited staff and maintain their individual files.
  • Follow administrative policies and procedures.
  • Manage administrative function and establish internal control systems.
  • Maintain updated documentation, filing, folders and administrative data management in both hard copy and soft copy version.
  • Ensure maintenance of staff related documentation including attendance register, leave record, personal records, performance evaluation records etc.
  • Ensure timely payment of applicable TDS liabilities to the concerned authority of Nepal government.

B. Assets & inventory Management

  • Keep track record of assets and inventory and timely reporting to concerned authorities.

C. Coordination:

  • Support in recruitment process locally and keep the employee records by coordinating with HR department. 
  • Keep track/record of the training and workshops for staff.
  • Work closely with finance department of GNJP for technical support and guidance.

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with three years of experience in relevant field
  • Proven experience in administering project accounts
  • Good computer skills including spread sheets and database
  • Good organizational skills
  • Hands on experience of FAMAS is preferred
  • Good knowledge of the English language along with writing and communication skills.
