Reports to: Director / Finance Lead

Role Purpose

This role exists to protect the financial integrity of the business. The Accountant owns the full cash cycle for the Nepal operation, from raising invoices through to collection, supplier payments, expense control and payroll. The single most important mandate is to ensure that money owed to the company is invoiced accurately, tracked relentlessly and collected in full. Equally, the role guarantees that every supplier invoice is paid on time, expenses stay within policy and staff are paid correctly and compliantly each month. This is a control and ownership position, not a passive bookkeeping function.

Accounts Receivable & Credit Control (Primary Focus)

Raise every customer invoice accurately, completely and on the day it is due, with correct amounts, tax treatment and payment terms.
Maintain a live aged receivables ledger and review it weekly; no overdue balance goes unnoticed or unactioned.
Run a structured collections process with defined follow up points (for example reminders at 7, 14 and 30 days past due) and a clear escalation path to management.
Enforce a written credit control policy, including credit limits, approval before extending terms, and holds on accounts that breach limits.
Flag any at risk debt early; no balance is written off without documented recovery effort and director level sign off.
Reconcile receivables monthly to the general ledger and to customer statements, resolving disputes promptly.
Produce a weekly receivables and collections report showing aging, cash collected and accounts requiring escalation.

Accounts Payable & Invoice Management

Verify all supplier and vendor invoices against purchase orders, contracts and delivery before approval.
Ensure every approved invoice is paid within agreed terms; no late payment fees and no missed obligations.
Maintain a payment calendar that balances on time settlement with healthy cash flow.
Keep a complete, audit ready record of every payable, approval and payment.

Expense Management & Budget Control

Review and process all staff expense claims against company policy, rejecting or querying anything outside policy.
Monitor actual spend against budget, flag overspend early and report variances to management monthly.
Manage petty cash, company cards and recurring costs with full documentation and periodic review.
Identify cost leakage and recommend savings.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance (Nepal)

Run accurate monthly payroll for all Nepal based staff, on time, every cycle.
Calculate and remit statutory deductions in line with Nepal law, including TDS, Social Security Fund (SSF) and provident fund contributions.
Issue payslips, maintain payroll records and handle salary queries professionally and confidentially.
Prepare and file statutory returns (TDS, VAT, SSF) accurately and within deadline; maintain compliance with the Nepal Labour Act and Income Tax Act.
Manage leave, final settlements and gratuity calculations correctly.

Reconciliation, Reporting & Internal Controls

Perform monthly bank, receivable, payable and ledger reconciliations with no unexplained differences carried forward.
Own the monthly close and deliver clean management accounts and a cash position report.
Design and maintain internal controls that prevent revenue leakage, duplicate payment and unauthorised spend.
Maintain orderly, audit ready records and support internal and external audit.

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; part qualified or qualified (CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience in an internal or full function accounting role covering receivables, payables, payroll and reconciliation.
Solid working knowledge of Nepal payroll, TDS, VAT, SSF and the Nepal Labour Act.
Demonstrated track record in credit control and collections, with evidence of reducing overdue debt.
Proficiency in accounting software (for example Tally, QuickBooks or Xero) and advanced Excel.
High accuracy, strong reconciliation discipline and meticulous record keeping.
