Roles and responsibilities of this job
The Accountant is responsible for managing financial and tax-related activities of the school. This role involves collecting and maintaining tax-related information, ensuring timely reporting to taxation authorities, and advising management on the financial impact of various corporate and operational strategies.
Department: Administration / Accounts
Reporting To: School Principal
Working Hours: 40–48 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and process financial, tax, and statutory reports in compliance with Nepal Government regulations
File and maintain records related to taxes, staff leave, salaries, benefits, provident fund, and security deposits of staff and students
Create, update, and manage records for:
Taxes and statutory payments
Staff leave, payroll, benefits, and provident fund
Security deposits (staff and students)
Assets and inventory
Student enrollment data and individual student records
Respond to authorized queries regarding financial records and files
Assign, record, and stamp identification numbers or codes for proper filing and documentation
Prepare accounts including company expenses, payslips, balance sheets, and tax-related documents
Compute revenue and perform detailed analysis of income and expenditure
Prepare monthly and annual tax reports, conduct audits, and file tax returns
Perform tax audits and negotiate with tax authorities on tax payment issues when required
Follow up with the School Principal for timely payments and maintain records of bills and dues
Examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
Monitor changes in government rules, regulations, and taxation policies and conduct research on tax-related matters
Provide financial advice and support to management as needed
Manage cash flow and prepare cash flow estimates
Audit and verify bookkeeping records, daybooks, receipts, and additional charges
Closely monitor profit and loss statements
Conduct bank transactions upon approval from the School Principal
Prepare, process, and submit government forms and official financial documents to the Principal
Maintain a logical, organized, and up-to-date filing system (both physical and digital)
Retrieve financial and account-related information upon authorized request
Archive all relevant accounting and financial documents
Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are strictly met
Maintain and monitor teachers’ attendance records
Prepare and process monthly payroll transmittals
Maintain records of payroll changes, increments, bonuses, and cash advances
Handle employee salary and payroll-related queries
Prepare and maintain individual student ledgers and teachers’ payroll ledgers
Perform general office duties such as typing, filing, and operating office equipment
Carry out other duties of a similar level as assigned by management
Report to the School Principal on any financial issues or potential risks requiring attention
