Job Description

The Accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial health of our production processes. This position involves cost analysis, inventory management, budgeting, and financial reporting to ensure accurate costing and profitability. You will collaborate with production, procurement, and leadership teams to optimize costs, identify variances, and support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including direct labor, materials, and overhead, to determine product profitability and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, and physical inventory audits to maintain accuracy and investigate variances.
  • Develop and maintain standard cost models, comparing them to actual costs and providing variance analysis to management for corrective actions.
  • Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts related to plant operations, including gross margin analysis and profitability studies.
  • Collaborate with production and procurement teams to review bills of materials (BOM), track raw material usage, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Process accounts payable/receivable for manufacturing-related transactions, including invoices for raw materials, freight, and shipping.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements; assist in audits and tax preparations.
  • Use ERP systems (Busy) and Excel to automate reporting and analyze data for operational improvements.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support pricing decisions, process enhancements, and capital expenditure projects.
