Job Description

Position Overview: The Academic Officer will work closely with academic leadership, faculty, and students to ensure the smooth running of academic programs, curriculum development, and policy implementation. This role will involve managing various aspects of academic operations, including course scheduling, faculty support, academic advising, accreditation, and student performance assessments. The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and passionate about supporting academic excellence, Assist in the design, development, and review of academic programs and courses.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum and Program Development: Assist in the development, review, and continuous improvement of academic programs and courses.
  • Faculty Support: Collaborate with academic staff on teaching strategies, faculty development, and resource management.
  • Student Academic Support: Coordinate academic advising services, monitor student progress, and provide guidance on academic policies.
  • Academic Scheduling: Oversee the scheduling of courses, allocation of classrooms, and faculty assignments.
  • Assessment and Accreditation: Manage academic assessment processes, ensuring compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Policy and Compliance: Develop, review, and implement academic policies, ensuring adherence to university regulations and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with Deans, Heads of Departments, and senior academic staff to align programs with institutional goals and objectives.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports on academic performance, program reviews, and student outcomes for institutional leadership.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Higher Education, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications are desirable).
  • Proven experience in an academic or administrative role within a higher education environment.
  • Strong understanding of academic policies, curriculum design, and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across multiple departments.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience with student management systems and academic software is advantageous.
