The Vehicle Mechanic / Mechanical Transport Assistant delivers integrated technical, coordination, and senior driving support to ensure the organisation’s fleet remains safe, roadworthy, and consistently operational. The role provides in-house preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and independent technical assessments, ensuring that referral to external garages occurs only when necessary and following rigorous technical and cost scrutiny. It plans and monitors maintenance schedules, oversees and quality-assures outsourced repairs, verifies costings, and maintains accurate fleet, safety, and compliance records.
This role also undertakes senior driving duties and mentors drivers across GWT(N), promoting safe driving practices, regulatory compliance, efficient fleet utilisation, and reduced downtime, costs, and operational disruption in line with duty of care standards.
