Project: Support to the Health Sector Strategy (S2HSS II) & Support to Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (S2GESI)
Position: Trainee – S2HSS II
Working period: 6 Months (can be extended to 9 months)
Working location: Kathmandu
Reports to: Senior Technical Advisor (Digitalisation in Health Component)
Responsibilities:
Technical Support – Digital Health
- Assist under the guidance of GIZ projects’ advisors, in planning, coordinating, and implementing digital health activities, together with partners such as MoHFS.
- Assist GIZ technical staff in coordination efforts with government institutions, private- sector actors, development partners, and other stakeholders to support the operation, training, monitoring, and continuous improvement of digital health systems, including DHIS2, openIMIS, EMR, electronic Primary Health Care, Birth Record Management System, and other relevant platforms.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical briefs, concept notes, presentations, progress reports, and other programme documents.
- Support GIZ advisors in identifying and applying relevant digital health standards, interoperability requirements, and global digital health goods to MOHFS
- Contribute to improving data quality, interoperability, data management, and the use of health information for decision-making.
- Support the Health Team in the effective use of digital tools and systems used by GIZ.
- Assist in analysing programme data and indicator related to health systems strengthening.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation
- Support the maintenance of programme databases, indicators, activity trackers, and other monitoring tools.
- Assist in tracking programme progress and preparing periodic reports.
- Document project activities, good practices, lessons learned, success stories, and implementation experiences.
Administrative and Coordination Support
- Assist with the preparation and coordination of events, workshops, trainings, and meetings, including logistical arrangements in collaboration with GIZ Service Unit.
- Support the drafting of Terms of Reference, agendas, minutes, action-point trackers, and related meeting documentation.
Communication, Research, and Knowledge Management
- Conduct research on digital health trends, policies, standards, interoperability, and global best practices.
- Support coordination with communication teams to develop visibility materials and disseminate knowledge products.
- Maintain and organize relevant digital health reference materials and programme knowledge resources.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Master’s degree (final semester or completed) in Health Informatics.
Experience:
- Not more than 1 year of professional experience
- Prior internship, research, or volunteer experience in health or development projects is acceptable
- Familiarity with Nepal’s health system and development partners is desirable
Skills and Competencies:
- Hands on knowledge of at least one of Digital health tools, such as DHIS2, openIMIS and other Digital health interventions tools
- Strong analytical, writing, and documentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Very good communication skills in English and Nepali (both written and spoken)
- Ability to work in a team and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to learn GIZ procedures and programme management processes

Supervision and Performance Assessment
- The trainee will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor (Digital Health Component)
- Learning progress and Performance will be reviewed periodically based on agreed work plans and deliverables
