Department: Primary Education

Job Purpose

We are seeking two (2) passionate and dedicated Primary Grade Teachers with strong written and spoken Tibetan language skills. The ideal candidates will be responsible for leading core primary-level instruction for Grade 2 and 3 students while seamlessly integrating Tibetan language learning into daily classroom routines, storytelling and cultural appreciation.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery and Classroom Instruction: Design, prepare, and execute interactive, age-appropriate daily lesson plans for Grade 2 and Grade 3 students in alignment with the school’s core primary curriculum.
Tibetan Language Integration: Teach basic to intermediate Tibetan language skills—focusing on reading, writing, and conversational speaking—through specialized language modules and daily classroom integration.
Interactive Learning and Fluency Building: Foster language fluency and vocabulary retention in young learners through engaging activities such as storytelling, guided reading, dictation, rhymes, and daily conversation practice.
Student Assessment & Progress Reporting: Monitor, evaluate, and record each student’s academic, linguistic, and social development. Prepare periodic progress reports and provide constructive feedback during Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
Teaching Material Development: Develop creative learning aids, visual charts, flashcards, worksheets, and interactive displays tailored to primary-level children
Cultural and Extra-Curricular Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow educators and school administration to organize school assemblies, cultural events, Tibetan literacy activities, and extra-curricular programs
Classroom Management and Child Safety: Maintain a safe, inclusive, well-structured, and emotionally nurturing classroom environment where young children feel confident to participate and learn.

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 1 year

Other Specification

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.), Humanities, Arts, or a relevant discipline. (Strong Tibetan script literacy and oral fluency are mandatory).
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of teaching experience at the primary/elementary school level (Grade 1–5).

Language Proficiency:
- Tibetan: Native or near-native fluency in both writing (Sambhota script) and speaking.
- English / Medium of Instruction: Fluent in written and spoken English (and local language as required by the school).

Key Competencies & Skills

Strong knowledge of primary child psychology and early literacy development techniques.
Creative storytelling and engaging instructional techniques.
High patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal communication skills for dealing with young children and parents.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-cultural faculty.

About Tergar Schools

Under the direction of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, the Tergar School Kathmandu project is the first of its kind, weaving together traditional Tibetan Buddhist principles and practices with contemporary approaches to learning. The project is supported by an international advisory board with a wealth of experience. The Tergar School Kathmandu, located in Sitapaila, Nagarjuna Rural Municipality is a non-profit boarding school, home to 82 students between the ages of 5 - 13, as well as 7 teachers, and 3 administrators. We are a trilingual school inclusive of English, Tibetan, and Nepali.
