Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Sr. Database Administrator located in Kathmandu. The Sr. Database Administrator will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to database administration, including database design, data modeling, and maintaining databases. This is an on-site role, requiring the candidate to work from our office in Kathmandu.

Qualification & Experience

Education Level

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Degree in CS, CIS, IT, Software/Computer Engineering, or any related field of study.

Experience Required

8 years + of experience as a Database Administrator in MSSQL, PostgreSQL, etc.

Job Description

Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on the projects.

Maintain data integrity in all application database.

Work closely with team lead to design the effective and efficient database schema with ER diagram.

Install and configure database instances as per requirement in coordination with Infra team.

Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.

Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query response.

Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.

Develop and define security procedures, administrative controls, monitor user access to databases, and maintain database security.

Understand the data structure and meaning in both the source and the target BI systems.

Provide support of maintenance plans (including DBCC), backup, recovery, and refresh of development SQL Server databases and database capacity planning.

Responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and periodically testing a backup and recovery plan for the databases.

Required Skills

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of SQL, MSSQL, MSSQL Cluster, PostgreSQL.

Knowledge of Cloud is a plus.

Should have knowledge of Linux and Windows OS.

Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and to work collaboratively within a team.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are required.

Persuasive in both written and verbal communication.
