Nepal Muslim Women’s Welfare Society (NMWWS) was established in 2006 by a group of Muslim women to work for the poor, marginalized, and disadvantaged women of Nepal. NMWWS is a non-partisan, non-profitable, and non-discriminatory organization. It is registered as an NGO with the Government of Nepal. Since 2006, NMWWS has been advocating for the political participation of marginalized Muslim and Madheshi women in order to achieve inclusive democratic reform. We focus on capacity building of marginalized women’s groups, enabling their access to mainstream politics.

NMWWS advocates and highlights the issues of gender equality, human rights, children’s rights, and violence against women. We work to build youth and women’s leaders to raise community-level awareness and break the chain of harmful socio-cultural practices. NMWWS’ focus is on increasing the enrollment and access of poor and marginalized girls to quality education. NMWWS works for women’s economic empowerment, promoting the economic independence of poor and marginalized women. Investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a path for poverty reduction and gender equality.

Familiarity with the local context and ability to communicate fluently in Nepali and local dialects.
Basic knowledge of participatory methods and effective community engagement strategies.
Must be open to frequent travel to remote areas across the district.

Job Description

Reports to: Team Leader

Duration: 28 months, with possible extension

The Social Mobilizer will work at the community level to support the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. Serving as a key link between the project team and local communities, they will promote active engagement, local ownership, and the sustainability of project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Engage community members and encourage their involvement in project-related initiatives.
Organize and lead information sessions, awareness campaigns, and orientation events in the community.
Support the creation of community groups, facilitate skill-building activities, and ensure consistent group meetings.
Gather field data, document success stories, and collect community feedback to inform reporting and project learning.
Coordinate with local institutions such as ward offices, schools, women’s groups, and health centers.
Keep detailed records of all community-level activities and provide timely reports.
Ensure active participation of women, marginalized populations, and individuals with disabilities.
Help address and mediate issues or conflicts within the community that may affect project activities.
